I work in IT, and when someone I'm helping brings it up, I subtly move the conversation to the environmental impact it is having.

None of them know about that side. At least one person was going to dig into it after the support call we were on.

I don’t think shaming people or berating them about using ai is the way to go. It’s likely even if they’re not sharing ai they’re still consuming/using it. Like when a parent disapproves of something and the kid just does secretly.

I hate seeing gen ai, but gotta teach without lecturing sometimes.
