I’m thrilled to share our new paper (Wolin et al., Cell 2025).

This paper describes SPIDR, a high-throughput method for mapping RBP binding sites.

By combining #SPIDR with #cryoEM, we identified the exact binding site of LARP1 within the #mRNA channel of the 40S ribosomal subunit.

What it has become a classic review published every ~5y, Polschroder (UPenn) and Schulze (RIT) summarize the Mol-Cell Bio technical advances for Haloferax volcanii , the "E. coli" of the archaeal models. Proud of our community progress given the genome was published only 15y ago!

We’ve uncovered Asgard chromatin structures formed by a Hodarchaeal histone : closed hypernucleosome conserved in archaea and an open form resembling the H3-H4 eukaryotic octasome. Fantastic work by @harshranawat.bsky.social!
