I feel like if David Letterman were still doing a nightly show, he’d spend a not small portion of tonight’s monologue and desk bits repeating the word “monobob.”

“Paul, you hear about the monobob results over there in Cortina? Big day for monobob,”

So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.
It took only a 15-second clip of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt duking it out on a crumbling rooftop — made by A.I. with a two-sentence prompt and the click of a button — to draw swift outrage, and sizable fear, from Hollywood.

"It’s nothing short of terrifying," one scriptwriter said.
Why an A.I. Video of Tom Cruise Battling Brad Pitt Spooked Hollywood
A 15-second clip created by an artificial intelligence tool owned by the Chinese technology company ByteDance appears more cinematic than anything so far.

Well now, would you look at that?

A massive study of NEARLY 300,000 people in the United States found that receiving an updated 2024-2025 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine REDUCED people’s risk of SEVERE disease AND death in ALL age groups, REGARDLESS of immunity from prior infection or vaccination.

Former EPA regulator:
"The U.S. no longer has emission standards of any meaning...Nothing. Zero. Not many countries have zero."
Our only hope in this country to overcome Trump's wrecking is to encourage states to maintain clean air standards and push manufacturers to continue to build clean cars
With the EPA killing the “endangerment finding,” the U.S. will have no laws on the books that enforce how efficient passenger vehicles should be. If the decision holds, it could increase U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the main driver of global climate change, by 10% over the next 30 years.
With Latest Rollback, the U.S. Essentially Has No Clean-Car Rules
The E.P.A.’s killing of the “endangerment finding” caps a year of deregulation that is likely to make cars thirstier for gas and less competitive globally, experts say.

LLM DETECTORS ARE ALSO LLMs AND PRONE TO THE EXACT SAME ERRORS.

STOP USING THEM.
Just because I keep seeing those "I checked this piece and it's written by AI" - this is an old article of mine, before AI was available. So could we not?

Sunday’s cat-scapade: getting a piece of salmon out of the kitchen trash and leaving it in his cat bed.

If it had been the older cat, there would have been no evidence.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

It's easy to be concerned about vaccines when you stop being concerned about viruses. You can only stop being concerned about viruses in a world with vaccines.

Measles is one of those nightmare diseases that, if it hadn't been killing people for hundreds of years, people would ABSOLUTELY be pushing conspiracy theories about right now. It's too nasty in too many different directions to seem natural. But oh, boy, it sure is.

I’m trying to make a new #linocut print every month in 2026. (OK, it’s true that I’m on the first one and it’s already mid-February, but nevermind.) Here’s my progress this weekend. I’m using one piece of lino to print all the colours, one after the other. This is called the ‘reduction’ method.

Crime is her favorite thing - crime, and anything I'm eating.

So tonight, for a V-day treat for me, I made myself a steak dinner. Medium top sirloin in a mushroom and red wine pan sauce, tangy mashed potatoes, roasted broccoli.

She watched me eat it. Plotting.

But she doesn't know I can plot too.

FURTHER: “degenerate art” was targeted for destruction. Some of these pieces, we only have black and white photos memorializing. Sometimes less.

I’m an author and a librarian to be. Book bans aren’t a badge of honor. They’re violence.

Reinforcing the category isn’t bold or helpful.
*pinches nose*

Time for your quarterly reminder that degenerate is a Nazi term, indicating the literal degeneration of a gene pool. Things this referred to: interracial marriage! Queerness! Disability!

It pretty much indicates they don’t think you’re human!

It’s not a cutesy way to say “leftist”

Let’s be honest if there is a wildly successful German/Austrian/European company that existed before WWII, survived it, and came out better in the other side you can take a safe bet that there was some Nazi shit going on with them.
