Now that Trump has unilaterally demolished the East Wing of the White House to turn it into a cheesy Queens wedding venue, and Bannon is proclaiming a third term, only Big Macs can save us.
dear US friends, when a sitting president (re)builds the seat of government, it almost always means the president has no intention of leaving at the end of term. your African friends with decades of experience

im sorry but if you think “normies” dont care about the white house being demolished for a half billion dollar golden vanity ballroom as the economy implodes then you just arent as plugged in as you think you are

I’ve been thinking about how hard the founding fathers cooked with the Third Amendment.

Imagine being forced to house ICE. I can’t imagine they wash their hands. They’ve never done laundry in their lives. They’d break your stuff if you didn’t cut the crusts off their sandwiches.

You know, whatever else there is to say about DC comics firing me, I have to say it felt deeply satisfying to tell a suit, "I get it, it's important to keep the faceless mob of Nazis happy"

My friend told me that her 14 year old son started doing laundry on Sundays for some of his elderly neighbors. He doesn't charge for the labor. And now he is the most popular person in the building and has non stop pies, cookies, and cake. The 14 year old should be our model of modern masculinity.

In the audience tonight is Charlotte Bennett, one of the 13 women that Andrew Cuomo is credibly alleged to have sexually harassed while they worked in his government.

She can't speak for herself because Cuomo's lawyers have hounded her.

So I confronted him.

We have just over two weeks to pass Prop 50. And when we do, it will send a message of hope across the country, that change is possible if we do the work.

So, let’s get to it. linktr.ee/cadem

The surge of federal immigration agents to the Bay Area and threats to send the National Guard to SF are flagrant abuses of power intended to instill fear, target political opponents, and chill dissent.

We all have constitutional rights when interacting with federal agents. Know your rights:👇🏾

Graduate seminar did a deep dive on Thomas Paine’s Common Sense yesterday. At the line, “in America the law is king,” they (14 students from 6 countries) burst out laughing. I've been doing this for 35 years and this is the first time that was a laugh line.

This isn’t a focus in the Discourse because the loudest voices with the biggest platforms are people who have never worried about their next meal. I’ve needed SNAP; I’ve used SNAP; I’ve lost it when it mattered. This is going to be a wave of mass starvation beyond living memory in this country.
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

Why is this a debate? Why is this an analysis? Why are we discussing his motivations or the reasoning behind why he has it or why he kept it? (These are all rhetorical questions.)

Nazi tattoo = you’re done.

It’s literally that simple. There’s no nuance or further conversation needed.

pretty goddamn shameful that no one had a very serious talk with him about his Ironic Nazi Tattoo, I agree
The “lots of people have seen it in public and no one’s ever called me a Nazi before” is going to sit with me a while. Buddy, that’s because they thought you were a large Nazi and gave you a wide berth

So we’re now paying federal taxes so Donald Trump can withdraw them from the Treasury like it’s his own personal bank account? Really?

i'm perfectly comfortable with the twitter/bluesky divide being one will overlook a nazi tattoo and one will not.

that seems like a reasonable distillation of the differences between the sites.

Putting a Democrat with a Nazi tattoo in the Senate normalizes Naziism in our federal politics for a long ass time.

All these recent stories about secret Nazi group chats? Anytime that happens going forward will be met with "But Platner."

It's not a purity test. Think through the consequences.
The NYT refuses to cover the #NoKings protests but cannot overlook this extortion attempt? Do better, Gray Lady!
Breaking News: President Trump wants $230 million from the Justice Department for investigating him, people familiar with the matter say. Any settlement might ultimately be approved by senior department officials who defended him or those in his orbit. nyti.ms/4hmIi5X

speaking as a metalhead: the guy who hasn't removed his nazi tattoo is not a guy you want to be around. I don't care what he says about how he got it. if he didn't get it covered or lasered, you cannot trust him.

Ok let's see here, I have an economy dependent on consumer spending, and where everyone is leveraged to the gills. Should I make everything more expensive for no apparent reason and see how it goes?

Enough is enough. Adelita Grijalva was elected on September 23. The people of Arizona have a right to be represented in Congress.

During today’s pro forma session, when the House is called to order I will seek unanimous consent to insist upon the swearing-in of Adelita Grijalva.

No Kings protests were one of the few times Trump, MAGA, and right-wing media were reacting to something the opposition did, rather than the opposition reacting to whatever they do.
Adopt a principle from war strategy: generally better to be taking action and forcing opponents to react. Good point.
Point five is really important. The protests provoked errors from the administration (shit force one) that may haunt them for years. That’s what happens when you stop being reactive.
