worth remembering that we keep finding out that right-wing influencers are being paid absurd amounts of money by right wing billionaires.
the idea of believing in something without compensation causing a kernal panic for the right

I find it far more likely that there’s a redux of 2020 where there’s a ton of noise from the feds priming their supporters for violence after the election counting starts. they’ll target some random (probably black) poll worker as a scapegoat to villainise, and idiots protesting at counting centers
last thing i’ll say since a lot of you are hung up on “complex and sophisticated.” even something as “simple” as sending thousands of guys to polling places in the 40 or so districts most likely to flip — and have them posted for the length of voting — is, uh, logistically demanding.
strange to me that a lot of people on this website simultaneously agree that the administration is run by incompetents who struggle to carry out their agenda without major political blowback AND that they’ll pull off a complex and sophisticated effort to rig elections and prevent defeat in November

a) an LLM isn't a child, or intelligent, it's a statistical pattern matcher. b) which one of us is the one feeding it the internet to try to teach it, you fucking morons. Maybe you should build a system that learns the way a child would first, not a bunch of sand doing matrix math.

I was teaching my own class when my phone when wild with alerts, as did those of many of my students. Why? Because ICE targeted children at Seattle public schools today.
Unspeakably angry right now.
Seattle Public Schools warned that ICE agents might be trying to draw out families who intended to bring their children home from school after news of ICE activity.

“Why are Europeans and Canadians so mean?”

Because our country threatened a war of aggression.

“Why aren’t Americans doing anything?”

1500 US Army arctic warfare specialists are literally incapable of deploying to Greenland due to domestic protests over dissidents being publicly murdered.

Intuit successfully lobbied to kill the IRSs free tax filing program.
I'll transcribe precisely but the gist of his first response was "We are talking about it with OpenAI". When I pressed him on the matter he reiterated Intuit's commitment to safety while admitting he had no idea what plans they had to protect the safety of user data.

Reminder that almost a quarter century ago, Schumer voted for the Hague Invasion Act, declaring that the US would militarily invade the Hague were it ever to be prosecuted by ICC for war crimes.

Biden did too, it was an overwhelmingly bipartisan agreement to be unaccountable to international law.
Look at how many names on this list are *still in power*, still kicking around. They weren't exactly young then, but now a lot of them are much much richer.

These declines are MASSIVE.

And the comparative silence in media coverage is absolutely DAMNING.

“Why are ppl always so afraid of crime?”

THIS is why. When crime goes up, media trips over itself to report it.

Falls to pre-war (!!) levels? Just CRICKETS.
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.
