Trump’s foreign policy isn’t “noninterventionism,” it is a kind of neo neo conservatism devoted to imposing authoritarian ethnonationalism abroad instead of democracy (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

So a high school uploaded all their students photos to an "AI" program to then reproduce an "AI" yearbook (without any of their permission btw)

With the news we've been getting lately I would be making the BIGGEST fucking stink I possibly could if that happened to either me or my children

Bigger Luke Theory is the perfect satire of "fan theories" existing divorced from textual analysis because it uses all the tools of treating the fiction at face value as a real thing that happened, to reach a conclusion that makes absolutely no fucking sense in any interpretation of the story

He's also wrong on principle in that the very purpose of a Constitution and legal rights in a democracy is protecting them from public opinion
This exchange drives me nuts. Neither the interviewer nor Bazelon acknowledges that 1) abortion rights are really popular! and 2) what ICE is doing is hugely unpopular!

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how many Catholic parishes and power figures have been loudly and openly “fuck this”
ICE’s acting director ordered a Boston Catholic parish to tear down its Advent Nativity scene—stripped of baby Jesus and branded with the message “ICE WAS HERE.” The parish priest is refusing, citing he pope’s call to stand with migrants. It's another chapter in Kristi Noem's war on Christians.
“ICE Was Here”: Pope Leo-Inspired Nativity Scene Sparks MAGA Outrage
A Nativity scene missing Jesus — and marked with an “ICE was here” sign — has triggered cries of “politicizing Christmas.” The parish priest says he’s answering Pope Leo's call to welcome stranger.

Read: “wrongthink is punishable by indefinite detention in cruel and unusual conditions, or a free, one-way trip to El Salvador or some other country you’ve never stepped foot in.”

The sheer cruelty of U.S. politicians is beyond any words I have.

Building the new Ninjago D2C on Stud.io based on a speedbuild video and decided to boot up the Ninjago seasons 1-3 soundtrack for old time's sake. My god, who let Jay Vincent and Michael Kramer cook this hard. Forgot how insanely good that soundtrack was even from the jump.

I cannot stress enough how the AI thing is just blockchain again. It has some uses, yes, but they're not actually general purpose ones. The bubble is going to burst and it's going to be so bad and like all cons, it's going to leave a few people rich and the rest FUCKED OVER.
A great deal of AI hype is coming from con artists who understand exactly how much easier it’s going to be to use the same cons over and over once they achieve their dream of a world in which nobody understands how anything 1) works or 2) has ever worked.

never miss an opportunity to tell someone who thinks they're being clever quoting "voltaire" that actually, voltaire never said it. it's from a 1993 episode of a nazi radio show & the guy who did say it is quite famously a pedophile who was so weird even the other nazis thought he was creepy.

D2C was revealed today and boy is it a beauty! Seems to be good value for money, too. My only major concern is space... it seems like it will take up a lot and I might need to clear a new shelf or table to display it on.
Of course, there's also a rumored D2C set, which could very well be excellent, if anniversary sets are anything to go by. And if this follows the pattern of the Core sets as a sort of "filler" before a more cohesive story arc, the summer wave ought to bring some excellent designs.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Eurovision is willing to self-destruct just to protect Israel.

why does everyone in the nuzzi orbit write like this!!
all of these people need an editor, a psychiatrist, and a small circle of trusted friends they can share this sort of beastly idea with over brunch instead of inflicting it on the public.
Possibly the only thing more freakish than Nuzzi's prose is the contortions her defenders twist themselves into. "She's not just hot, but she definitely is hot, while also being a vulnerable smol child. Also, criticizing her is sexist."

The new Friends sets also don't necessarily interest me as much as last year's did, but to be honest that's okay—even in incredibly strong years for the theme I usually only get one or two standout sets. This wave, that's definitely the Garden Restaurant.

Compared to the Dreamzzz final wave, I don't feel all that excited about the upcoming Ninjago sets. The Legacy sets are really well done but a lot of the others feel a bit basic, sort of like the Core wave.
