Looked through Twitter for the first time in a while tonight. The mixture of pseudofacts, misinformation, and anecdotal bullshit is truly astounding.

If you are unclear on what “anecdotal bullshit” is, it’s basically saying, “this is my point of view/experience so it must be universally true”

Here's one for someone who wants to contribute to JRuby: reimplement UNIXSocket using the JDK support for UNIX sockets:

We currently use jnr-unixsocket, part of our native FFI backend, but it has never worked perfectly.

A warning to parents. When you say “no” to an idea, think through why very carefully. For the last two years I’ve been telling my oldest that she isn’t allowed to rob the Louvre because her plan wouldn’t stand up to security. Turns out, this is a place that doesn’t put alarms on upstairs windows.

Never forget that anti-black racism has always been the first tactic used by elites to pull the wool over the eyes of the white masses to distract them from those same elites pulling from the pockets of the masses. It worked during the slavery era, during industrialization, and continues even now.

Handcrafting a website or an app is fun. Having something do it for me isn’t. Then there is the whole accessibility and usability aspect of it all.

I used to take electronics apart, put them back together to see how things worked and then transferred that to coding. I still love to handcraft code.

We’ll see fewer and fewer tech layoffs as Return to Office and flattened hierarchies with no path forward compel people to just leave companies with these outdated mindsets.

Maybe it will lead to further innovation in tech. Let’s hope.
