The improvement in storytelling between Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 should be a case study in the importance of video game writing. They're nearly identical games, yet the sequel is 1000% more playable.

Solo devs and very small teams often have this inherent cringe about the idea of making people pay $20 or $10 or even $5 for their little game and I can't emphasize enough how much you have to grab that cringing impulse within yourself and strangle it to death

La question de la légitimité de sauver un monde "virtuel" aurait dû être plus creusée selon moi. La question du sens des expéditions est aussi trop rapidement balayée.

Avec une structure plus équilibrée, le choix final aurait vraiment eu plus de sens et d'impact (même s'il est déjà assez fort).

J'aurais adoré qu'on joue plus longtemps en dehors du tableau, plutôt que de passer 20h à écouter des gens faire des mystères.
On aurait pu jouer les membres de la famille dans la guerre entre peintres et écrivains, vivre la mort de Verso et mieux comprendre le rôle d'Alicia dedans.

Oui certes il avait Esquié et Monoco... Mais ils sont eux-mêmes un peu bizarres, ça aurait pu déteindre sur lui. Je pense surtout au fait de voir toutes les expéditions passer et mourir, ça a pas l'air de l'avoir marqué.

Ça aurait été génial que Verso ait eu le même traitement qu'Alan Parrish. Le mec a vécu littéralement 60 ans dans la jungle, à voir les gens qui passent se faire massacrer, il devrait être un peu plus traumatisé.
