Once a symbol of unity and hope across Europe, the Eurovision Song Contest has been turned into a pink-washing front for war criminals in Israel.

After today's decision, there must be a global boycott of Eurovision.

What Australians now expect from landlords
As new minimum standards start to gain traction, so too are expectations that landlords — at least in part — cover the cost of meeting them.

How about we worry less, as a society, about whether individuals might be cheating to get a disability accommodation or some help buying food, and more about whether extremely wealthy people and corporations are paying their fair share of taxes?

There is still nowhere near enough focus, anger and material consequence heaped on real estate agents and the real estate industry for their role in worsening our ability to both eliminate fossil fuels and adapt to their consequences
Lol, Zillow tried to rate the climate risks facing individual properties. The real estate industry *hated* it, precisely because it worked -- it made selling risky properties more difficult. So they rebelled & Zillow caved.

Don't look up!

#NACC working exactly as the duopoly planned.

A jobseeker receiving $20,633 has mutual obligations, punitive conditions, cruel private agencies, survives in entrenched poverty, and would never receive the leniency given to a former judge on $800,000 and $$$ in perks.
#Auspol
Don't you think the public has a reasonable expectation that the Commissioner of the NACC being paid well above $800,000 would consider this a full time job and not also seek to freelance outside of it?

I think overconfidence in a technological, free-market and autopilot energy transition also inspires a follow-on dismissiveness around governments approving, supporting or encouraging fossil fuel infrastructure (on the grounds that it won't compete with cheap renewables and therefore isn't a worry)

Another thing: if we've only managed to cut real emissions by 4% since 2005, how do you think we're getting the rest of the way to 62-70% by 2035 with the same weak policies?
The land-use accounting tricks that got us to -28% aren't yielding any more.
Just to cut through the backslapping: the very small emissions reduction (2%) is nowhere near enough even for our own local targets. These are also the easiest cuts (ie from local pwr generation bc we are buying solar panels) and are only in one sector.
Exported emissions are 4x bigger and growing.

I monitored these same sorts of white supremacists for years (to fight them), and let me tell you.

You have to CONSTANTLY, aggressively deprogram yourself.

Even just, the language. We are social creatures and we absorb the language we're around. Guess what words enter your mental vocabulary
This is the correct take. Stewing in white supremacist propaganda is bad for your thinking. And if think you are so savvy that it won’t impact you, you are the exact kind of mark they are slowly converting (I’m looking at you, centrist pundits).
It’s really funny how a generation will roll its eyes at parents who watch Fox News but doesn’t see why being immersed in Twitter is having the same effect. Lots of serious people show up on Fox News too but that shouldn’t be your primary source on the news.

Gone are the days of Scott Morrison simply lying about whether Australia is on track to meet its emissions targets, but burying this assumption under the hood of your claim that we are on track - using existing policy measures alone - is the same damn thing.
We should urgently change how we generate electricity in Australia, but the government's claim to be on track to meeting its 2030 target is based on coal and gas generation permanently dropping to a third of current levels this decade.

They do not have the policies in place to make this happen.
