It's 410 CE, and I'm your podcast host, Rossus Douthaticus. I'm here with Alaric the Visigoth, who recently sacked the Eternal City.

Alaric, why do you think people have lost faith in Rome? Is it a crisis of liberalism? Is it because of the feminization of the workplace?

maybe in a similar-ish vein, but this is how I've always been taught to work as a poll worker -- to make it as accessible to vote and assist voters as much as possible, not to look for the slightest infraction or misstep to turn someone away.
It feels very far away right now, but I still believe that we should have a federal immigration service/system who's main job and purpose is to help people stay in the US and make their lives as new Americans work.

Completely agree. I know me personally pitching e-bikes right now might seem sort of odd but during unrest they were *by far* the easiest and fastest way to get around the city/neighborhoods.
Honestly the longer ICE stays here the more advantage we gain. They have to be gone by spring. If the bike whackos get a shot at patrol it’s OVER.

the additional money, split between four years (~$18.75 billion/year) is still in excess of annual military spending by most countries in the world

"This is their Stalingrad" is a lot more apt than most people realize because the war went on for another 2 years after that
We are going to win. But it is going to hurt. In Minneapolis-St Paul, it's hurting. And that pain is about to be brought on, likely even more acutely, in Springfield, where they've already been terrorized once before.

throwing my hand into the discourse blender: to think about mostly material/technical concerns while omitting uneasy questions about social values and politics is one of the most significant weaknesses of 'abundance' movers in this time imo -- a time of fascism, demagoguery, and occupation
Today, an imperial presidency exercises largely unrestrained control over the most powerful military on Earth. As America and Canada industrialized and grew into this continent we share, logistical barriers to invasion dropped away. We should ask ourselves: what about the democratic ones?

Not of any importance but as you might expect my repulsion toward Dodge SUVs, Cadillac Escalades, Ford Exploders and Expeditions, Chevy Suburbans and Tahoes and all the rest, especially those with fully tinted windows has never been more heartfelt. For these are the vehicles of monsters.

ICE = SUV

Artificially limiting the size of the House to 435 members has been a detriment to democracy and the Republic.
