Gladiator fights are popular in the Empire and draws huge crowds. They're usually not as bloody as the IRL games I based them on, but accidents and even deaths occur. They're more like fighting tournaments. Gladiators can get sponsors and make it big.

Serara learns to see past her prejudices. She becomes less naive, but still open minded, and she learns that her kindness is a strength.

Zaki learns to depend on others. He realizes he's worthy of love, and capable of loving someone.

Zaki is flexible and calm under pressure. Skilled at combat and a number of social situations, but he's also slightly paranoid and think people are either lying or out to get him. He has a soft side he doesn't show very often. Underneath the calm composure he's a kind soul.

Serara is observant, curious and caring, which pushes her to learn new things and do things she wouldn't have before. She's also a bit naive, and hides her anger behind a mask of sass and sarcasm. She's kind and friendly, but can be very stubborn.->

I had to have a good think, and none, absolutely zero of my MCs play a sport of any kind 😅 I have a secondary character who does a bit of fencing, but it's not really for sport, but swordsmanship.
I have to do something about this in future WIPs, me thinks... 😆

Zaki is not really shy about any of his skills. But he did get flustered when Xhavann praised the comb he whittled. It was just something he did to occupy his hands with while keeping watch at night and he hadn't planned on sharing it.

Serara is good at singing and can belt out a tune when she's alone in the forest. But for some reason she chokes up when other are around and keeps making excuses; she's not trained, she's out of practice, etc. The only one she can sing to without feeling shy is Yan. ->

-> They - Serara, Zaki, Xhavann and Yan - end up fleeing for their lives, being pursued by Zaki's former colleagues who have seemingly turned traitors. Along the way they meet Thistle, a non-binary fairy who agrees to help them through the woods in exchange for a favor. ->
