I feel if a RPG's primary reward mechanic for advancement/improvement is based off one thing, then that RPG is primarily about doing that thing.
Gold=XP - it's about amassing treasure
Killing=XP - it's about combat
Solving the Mystery=XP - it's about solving mysteries
This is somehow controversial.

I've been loving the Blades campaign I'm in right now. Loved reading Deep Cuts, partly for the timeline change and evolution of the setting.
Needless to say, Blades '68 is extremely My Shit. I need to get this to table someday.

Sigh. Since pieces are going around using "medieval peasant" as a perjorative again, here's your reminder that they were way better organized, more rebellious, less superstitious, more aware of sanitation and way more ingenious than you've probably been taught. I've written about this *a lot.*
