polygamy is really tough for a lot of us to understand, much less accept. how would you react if, for example, you found out your uncle was entering a group marriage? you might be confused, and perhaps even resentful. just try to remember that it’s a complicated issue that requires some new aunts

Just saw the Better Business Bureau described as "boomer Yelp" and I was absolutely struck by the truth of that.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Bluesky is officially “open” now (no more invites). So just a reminder to not engage with trolls and bad actors, there is no algorithm here to promote or spread them, replying to them is what puts them on everybody’s timelines. So block and give no oxygen.

This is something I know from research most people don't understand--the estrogen I take every morning isn't any different than the estrogen countless cis women take every morning. It's not a radical field of medicine; it's a very common medicine being banned for trans people and trans people only.

I sometimes regret being so terribly allergic to cats. I feel like we would probably suit each other pretty well, both being socially inept nocturnal carnivores and all.

few people talk about the second starfleet "kobayashi maru" test (you're put in a holodeck for 2 hours, if you do nothing sexual in it you pass)

I'm listening to an unabridged audiobook of Gibbon's History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. It's 126½ hours long, which makes it by FAR the longest title in my library, nearly doubling the previous record holder (Burrows and Wallace's GOTHAM, 67:25).
Nit 30 seconds, but it does hesitate noticeably.

These throwable fire extinguishers seem like a real-life example of xkcd.com/937 — they have really good reviews from everyone except the few people who tried using them to put out fires

Ohio has basically defacto banned trans healthcare for adults using a similar strategy to why there was only a handful of abortion clinics in the entire Midwest before the Dobbs decision (TRAP laws)

cis people please repost this so this info doesn't get stuck in the queer social bubble
Breaking: Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) bans, by executive order, gender-affirming surgery for minors, effective immediately. The move followed last week's veto of a broader bill. He also announced two proposed rules that will apply to all care, including adults. substack.com/profile/2269...

The MCU

* Doing weird reinventions of popular characters to create buzz
* Leaning on midtier characters in hopes one will catch fire
* Struggling to maintain quality while maintaining cadence
* New & light users have no easy way to 'catch up'

Congrats MCU you've captured the comic book experience!
He was like a frikken fright train
And then bestie has to wait to see if kids can even get into next party place.

That'd be an interesting character. Someone who has someone befriended/tamed all of those monsters and *has* furnished their home as such. They don't *seem* to have any home security system. They even seem to be an easy target for thieves. But somehow those who try are never heard from again.

Reminds me of how one of the AD&D1E manuals had a whole range of monsters that imitated practically every dungeon feature. Besides the trusty mimic, there was a floor monster, ceiling monster, stalactite monster, I think there was a man-eating carpet one... you could furnish an apartment with them.
