High winds and warmer temps forecast for the next couple of days. That's a recipe for downed trees and power outages. Check out the size of my happy hat.

Tried to post this yesterday, but there wasn't enough signal on site: sunset at the Big Garage

My dear sir, if I could keep track of all the nonsense the federal government has thrown at me over the last four years to deny my disability application, I wouldn't consider myself disabled in the first place. You see my dilemma?

Listening to an audiobook about the history of the Nobel prizes. I knew they were a huge political shitshow, but I was not previously aware of how profoundly true that was even in the period between Alfred Nobel's death and when the prizes actually started happening.

No subtext, just a cute chicken mug I found on sale today.

Got my Christmas card from some folks who probably don't want to be tagged here since it has their real names on it. The current one always goes on my fridge, though!

started playing cyberpunk 2077 and it's still got some bugs after like five years, but i kinda get it because the open world is so bewilderingly expansive and sophisticated with tons of crazy ideas crammed in there. ea sports has spent decades screwing up a flat rectangle with 22 guys and a ball

"Good but I cannot possibly repeat the experience" edition: Schindler's List.

"Made me regret allowing myself to be talked into entering the theater, and in fact that theaters exist" editlon: Inglourious Basterds.

Weirdly, they're sort of about the same thing.
Never mind movies you’ve watched multiple times, name a movie you’ve watched once and would never watch again.

Everyone always focuses on the mask and makes them dishonest/thievery-oriented, but I think raccoon kemomimi characters should have more realistic traits, like having an obsession with washing their hands despite being willing to eat out of garbage cans.

Tree's up. Going a little light on the themed ornaments this year so far; might add more later, as I notice gaps.

People who have washing machines with fully electronic controls are missing out on one of the few visceral pretend-you're-preflighting-the-starship knobs-and-buttons switchgear experiences left to us in the modern world.

"Advanced technology guarantees that the set will stay lit if a bulb becomes burnt out, loose, broken, or even missing."

... advanced technology like (checks notes from middle school science) wiring the sockets in parallel instead of series?

Getting into the festive spirit, decorating the tree while listening to... a... biography of John of Gaunt??

(look, it's what was next on the playlist, OK)

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an agèd wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me.
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?

Dylan Thomas, Do mot go gentle into that good night (most of it) & part of Delmore Schwart’s “Calmly we Walk Through this April’s Day”

OK, I wouldn't have bought one, but I have to admit the rainbow keyboard thing is growing on me.

I'm watching Shiori Novella of Hololive play a sci-fi survival horror game, and one of the in-game locations is a nightclub called "the Megazone". Whenever she mentions it, my brain momentarily thinks she's talking about @megazone.org and I get a little "the streams just crossed" moment.

Remember when foil holograms were trendy? The first one I remember seeing was on the cover of National Geographic. IIRC, it was of a statue of an eagle. Then they were everywhere for a while, and then they just disappeared, replaced by those horrible stereographs.

What with everything else modern smartphones can do, it's odd that they don't have a temperature sensor. Maybe the manufacturers figure that since they're usually carried directly on people's persons, it wouldn't be useful.
