Happy to see this! This is indeed a mission statement for us, so I am pleased to see we lived up to it.

Congratulations on very nice work @tjryan.bsky.social and all of the team
Lastly, many thanks to the Editors at @plosbiology.org for a serious, efficient, and scholarly approach to peer review. My first time submitting to this journal, and I was very impressed.

The Murphy Lab did our annual retreat this week. This year's theme was using AI (what it's good and bad for). I wanted to be open-minded to make sure we are not missing something we should be using it for, so we did a few exercises to test, and had presentations.

Fox News’s Will Cain described a “weird kind of smugness” in the way “some of these liberal white women interact with authority.”

I got your smugness and will raise you to informed, persistent outrage that will support justice for every person over fascist violence every day of the year, buddy.

I will be blind for life. I have fractures in my skull that they can't fix. They pulled a piece of plastic the size of a nickel out of my eye. I had shards of metal, glass, and plastic behind my eye and in my skull. They said it was a miracle I survived.

@seanryanforbuffalo.bsky.social A valued member of the scientific community right here in Buffalo is being held by ICE. What can you as mayor do about this?

Kristi Noem has been a complete and total failure at her job. She has violated her oath and has allowed ICE agents to terrorize our communities.

That’s why I’m joining @robinkelly.house.gov in calling for her impeachment.

We deserve better, she’s gotta go.

The appropriations bill that includes NIH is being finalized.

The Senate bill includes a bipartisan amendment from Senators Capito (WV) and Baldwin (WI) limiting multi-year funding of grants.

The House version does not and OMB has issued a veto threat if the House includes such language.

Likewise, Congressman Cole from Oklahoma is the chair of the overall House Appropriations committee.

If you can, reach out to his office as well.

It is noteworthy that OMB is willing to veto a bill over a minor-seeming NIH operational issue.

This makes me think this is part of a bigger plan...

Congressman Aderholt from Alabama is the chair and he is apparently willing to help OMB here, adding report language (which is toothless) rather than including this in the law.

If you are from Alabama, please contact his office and your Senators and share your thoughts.

I didn't withhold any federal taxes this year.

I will be evaluating whether to pay at all and what the penalties would be.
at some point we're gonna have to have a real conversation about why we're still paying federal taxes to a regime that isn't using them to help anyone, but instead is using them to brutalize us
