50 years ago today Bill Lee clowns around in the clubhouse after the Red Sox take Game 1 of the World Series. Lee sucks his thumb and wears a beanie as he announces he will be Pitching game 2 the next day. He ends up going 8 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, in a 3-2 loss to the Reds.

The other added item from today's press conference, #Rays owners mentioned that a fixed roof will be the way forward when they build a new stadium. Hope #Rays fans enjoyed that one summer with open skies over their favourite team, because that might be the last time it ever happens.

1. Asked if TB is sole area for new stadium, they only wrote off Ohio but left all other areas on the table
2. Rightfully pointed out numerous times that they are leaving Baseball Ops decisions completed to Erik and Kevin
3. Pointed to budget remaining ~ same for now

#Rays owner Ken Babby purchased Akron Aeros in '12 when he was 32. Signed a 25 yr lease that included $3.5M in improvements, rebranded them to Akron Rubber Ducks (birthplace of tire and rubber companies such as Goodyear, Firestone, B.F. Goodrich, GT), used naming rights of stadium to help finance.

Rang out the summer of 2025 by playing catch at the Yogi Berra Museum in NJ with my partner Roberta Newman and 1178 other catch pairs, all of us joining in to set a world record for the biggest game of catch ever played in one place at one time. And guess what?

WE DID IT!!! and it was a blast❤️⚾

I bought four gloves at the MLB strore in Manhattan Saturday night, gave one to my catch partner, and donated two to the event's collection drive for the Dominican Republic, where I umpired during the summer of 2018 with my old umpire school instructor/author Zach Rebackoff. It felt good to know I was giving something useful to a worthy cause.

Roberta and I signed this massive canvas big enough to accommodate two thousand signatures. It will be displayed inside the Yogi Berra museum next door to the field, which you should definitely visit if you haven't already, and visit again if you have.

A lot of Dominican ballplayers are going to be very happy with their new gloves collected and donated by the Yogi Berra Museum! The event had a supply of gloves ready for people who showed up without one, but also requested donations for a drive to share them with children in need. Including the two gloves I donated, I think they did okay on that score.
