That’s a great stat. I shall be banking that!

Yes I think that’s right… ‘no I’m not, I just care about this issue’ gets a ‘more girls died of starvation while you’ve been complaining than have ever been kept off a podium by a trans athlete so, again, why are we talking about this?’

Ps I don’t get invited out much lol

All I want in life is to persuade everyone, when encountering politics & culture, to ask, "why are we talking about this?" I mean that very literally: anything you encounter on your screens reflects a choice. Someone covered that, talked about that, rather than the many other things out there. Why?

I had a friend’s wife storm out of a dinner after I asked - maybe too insistently - ‘why are we talking about this? Do you realise you are just repeating right wing assholes talking points, entirely designed to divide?’

Really triggered her

To be clear - I’m not a gold fan at all, never have been. But there is quite a lot of it.

Although I did buy some last week which should put an end to this rally.

Unfair - it’s pretty good for money laundering and buying drugs.

Global trade is $33b per annum.
Global gold stocks are $27b.

Trade financing / payments etc probably takes a week max so, yeah gold could be a substitute.

There are actually ways of moving boats that doesn’t involve flying them around

But I take your point :-)

Lord Heseltine, "Brexit is now having a debilitating effect on the UK.. It will be reversed, not it, when..The deception of Brexit has exposed Britain"

Don’t worry, I bought some last week so the rally is over :-)

To be fair - Open AI and maybe Tesla excluded - the big players are fantastic companies with great underlying businesses and low leverage so won’t actually fail.

But they could halve or more in value and it will be 🤷‍♂️

Honourable mention for the NZ stock market 84-87 which largely consisted of companies called SomethingCorp whose principal business was investing in each other at ever higher prices, in all-stock transactions.

Also crashed unsurprisingly.

Tbf MSFT, Google etc are cash cows by comparison

Like Amazon does with products that sell well…

Nothing to see here, just Reform’s leader suggesting UK emulate a country with Sharia Law
ottoenglish.bsky.social
UAE has no democratically elected institutions, no free speech and an appalling human rights record.

Its economy functions on completely different metrics to the ours & ranks well below us for GDP

No serious person would ever think that we should emulate it.

But here's Tice calling us decadent
bbolger.bsky.social
Reform leader calls for Sharia law in UK?

Did I get that right?

Oh so we are going after girlfriends now?

Are they water-boarding her to get the names of Portland party shops where Antifa buy their inflatable frog suits??
rtodkelly.bsky.social
"the girlfriend of one of the founders of antifa"

Other than counterfeiting or theft, that pretty much covers the options

It would have worked if only he’d yolo’d into bitcoin with the proceeds

(a few years later but that you know).

My favourite joke lol

We can put that case behind us then.

Tories have made real progress with killing international banking - UK doesn’t feature for IPOs anymore, and listening to Jenrick ranting about judges, he’s coming for the globally recognised legal system too…
