It’s really interesting to see which government officials and members of Congress are comfortable publicly writing on social media that they’re fine with service members carrying out unlawful orders and abandoning The Constitution. Someone should start a list.

Day 25: Hexagons
#30daymapchallenge #30daymapchallenge2025

Revisiting the first map of the series - just binning trees by hexagons for Cambridge. Was hoping to do something more interesting but busy day, so kind of called this one in. Holiday week may interfere with completing.

I'm procrastinating so naturally I'm doing a deep dive on the history of The Map Center.
I had been saying it was established in 1953 but I found a source that says 1950 which would make it the oldest map store in the USA. Which is cool. Looking forward to verifying and marketing the crap out of it.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

Ran out of time. Massachusetts doesn't fit well in a square. Definitely a draft but a fun one, especially with multiple constraints.

Incandescent rage.
Emmanuel, a 15-year-old with intellectual disabilities, wandered away from his mom’s fruit stand in October.

She reported him missing to Houston police. But instead of reuniting them, the city turned him over to ICE.

“They’re failing all of us,” his mom said.

One of the reasons I keep telling people that new maps are cooler than old ones is because old maps were made by a very narrow slice of humanity but contemporary maps are made by EVERYONE and they're rad. Here's a quick vid about gender and cartography www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8UMSJ3u/
I got a good question from a customer and I tried to answer it. Yeah, most of my customers are men but in the two years I've owned this business it's gotten much closer to gender parity because I cura...

Hm maybe young people are more astute analysts who understand that seemingly distant struggles for democracy, social and economic rights, self-determination and against occupation, apartheid and genocide are interconnected
It still is ridic that more Gen Zers showed up for pro-Palestine protests than the ones now against Trump. They're all about a conflict 6,000 miles away that doesn't involve any American soldiers but not their own country falling apart

The bill last numbered H.R. 9495 would empower the Treasury Secretary to designate any nonprofit the Secretary wishes to kill a “terrorist supporting organization” and revoke the tax-exempt status on which it depends for survival. Unconstitutional but lethal in the harm it would do while in force.
