The space that Japan occupies in the perception of race in the minds of these culture warrior types is strange. It is both this exotic & fetishized ideal of racial purity but also Japanese characters are just white to them when it suits their political/cultural hang ups.

Tbh I find both Power Rangers fans and Sentai fans both to be pretty annoying in their own way, but the PR fans have earned at least some level of pettiness after all the mockery from Sentai fans about having their franchise end lol
