Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.

Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.

We are a country resisting, not appeasing or acquiescing. We fight back. Maybe we'll win, and maybe not. But we are fighting. So the question on my mind, is: Will future Leftist historians writing about this American decade acknowledge us? Or will we be just a Maga substructure? Will we even exist?

most ICE agents are too stupid to know how an amendment even gets ratified, much less how difficult it is. Make them think it's possible.

The Jan6 pardons emboldened them. Undo that. Scare them. Remind them the Constitution gave the President his pardon power and the Constitution can take it away.

I admire the strength of your bubble

Congressional Democrats can propose a constitutional amendment to retroactively revoke the president's power to pardon members of his own administration at any time. They can do it in a press release. It doesn't have to be official. Just put the idea out there. Make the criminals think twice.

Unconstitutionally taking money that the law says must be spent on one purpose & using it for something else—when it's to establish personalist control over the FUCKING MILITARY—is about as dangerous a constitutional crisis/failure as you can imagine

The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News.

A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

Storming the Capitol to hang your own vice-president and end democracy is.

We are seeing dozens of these videos every day. It's happening all over the ocuntry. I know many people are outraged but it's just continuing unabated.

This feeling of impotence is devastating. How does it end? With the country emptied of brown people and dissidents in jail?

This year, I've had so many productivity issues. Whole days lost, deadlines completely blown I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with me

Yeah, so for the last 48 hours I decided to tune out the news and concentrate on an article and surprise surprise: it was the fascism this whole time

Lots of reasons this kind of undercover work doesn’t happen in the U.S., but no good ones it shouldn’t

We've been undercover in the UK's biggest police force revealing evidence of racism, misogyny and officers revelling in the use of force at Met Police's Charing Cross station. Here's my article: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

could a more realistic goal be that a future administration publicly release the names of all ICE agents (maybe in response to a foia request) so that they could be socially shamed, instead? we should at least have the right to know who these people are

Coalition for Spirituality & Public Life host a Eucharistic Procession from St. Eulalia in Maywood to the ICE Detention Center in Broadview where there will be prayer & Communion. The Coalition will also try to bring Holy Communion to those detained in the facility, which is a right by Illinois law.

The prosecution of Tish James is the product of a broken system that allows lawless billionaires to rule alongside corrupt politicians.

It’s as much a story of New York City as Washington, D.C.

But it's here in New York where a new era of politics will be born.

my take-away is that, just as an effective fire emblem team can alternate between swords, axes, and spears, and an effective jeanne d'arc team can use moon, sun, and star, so should an effective online activist be able to cycle between the 3 modes (shitposting, aura farming, and normality) as needed

Reflection of current politics little discussion of what Virginia AG actually does

Increasingly important role in suing (or not suing) Presidential administration

Virginia has not joined lawsuits brought by Dem AGs

Also provides legal advice to state agencies and defends them

they should also try to refer to the clips at least once in passing otherwise the media will just edit the clips out like a Tiktok filter.
benhixon.bsky.social
The mainstream media isn't playing the clips of ICE abuse, or at least not enough to sink in yet. Most people still don't know it's happening. Elected Democrats need to cart large portable tv screens around with them and just have the clips playing on loop behind them in every interview from now on.

Sure, in cities; but that's true for a lot of people even now, even here in the US (speaking from experience). To me it's even weirder that rural people didn't cook their own food.

Right now, with the stroke of a pen, reproductive rights could be taken away in Virginia — if we elect Winsome Earle-Sears as Governor.

It’s unacceptable. Reproductive healthcare decisions should stay between a woman, her family, and her doctor. Full stop.
benhixon.bsky.social
I get why that would be true for cities, having lived for years in a city (nyc) without a kitchen or private bathroom myself, but I don't think the majority of people in history have lived in cities, have they? So I'm surprised it applies to country people too.
