There's an advert on his website for a 'Depot Supervisor' that pays £12.75 an hour for shift work.
If he wants to reduce welfare spending maybe he should pay staff enough that they don't need in-work benefits.

When a popular local bookshop (The Big Green Bookshop) moved away from the area at the end of 2018, it left Wood Green and Turnpike Lane without a bookshop.

They provided hard evidence of the racism Black soldiers faced within the US military during the Korean War: discriminatory court-martials, a lack of Black officers, and biased systems that kept them deployed longer. The enemy wasn't Korea (China or the USSR), but the system that oppressed them.

The leaflets asked a piercing question: "Why are you in Korea fighting other coloured people, while lynchings... pile up against the Negro people at home?" They listed recent murders and lynchings, exposing the hypocrisy of the white US capitalist ruling class's excuse of "fighting for freedom."
Continuation of the leaflet. The text concludes the UN petition quote: "Jellied gasoline in Korea and lynching at home are connected." It addresses the Black soldiers directly: "We don’t say that you shouldn’t be loyal to the United States... But your fight is at home... It’s not your business to come here and fight other colored people for Big Business profits." It calls for unity between black and white soldiers and Americans to fight for peace, with the slogans "Korea for the Koreans. China for the Chinese. America for Americans, Negro and white," and "Americans, black and white, unite and fight for peace!" The final section of the leaflet. The text reads: "The Chinese and Koreans are fighting for their own homes and borders. We didn’t come five thousand miles across the sea to fight... Don’t risk your lives here. Ask to go home where you can fight for your own rights as a human being. Leave us at peace in our homes here." It is signed "Your friends, THE KOREAN PEOPLE’S ARMY THE CHINESE PEOPLE’S VOLUNTEERS." The number "6" is at the bottom, indicating it is the final page.

During the Korean War, the Korean People's Army and the Chinese People's Volunteers produced powerful propaganda leaflets aimed at Black American soldiers. They connected the imperialist war abroad to the racist violence at home in the US.

A leaflet titled"Negro Soldiers:" with text that reads: "Did you ever stop to think why you should be in Korea, fighting other colored people, while lynchings, murders and insults pile up against the Negro people at home? They tell you you are defending freedom here. What kind of freedom?" It then lists specific cases of racial violence against Black people in the United States, including Morris Scott, Samuel Ellis, Willie Carlisle, Sam Jones, Willie McGee, and Harry T. Moore. The text concludes: "They tell you'll come nearer to equality by fighting in the Korean war. They always do that when the time comes to face the guns. It's a lie!" Continuation of the leaflet. The text states: "The only place you can fight for equality is at home." It provides facts about racial discrimination in the U.S. military, citing the court-martial of Lieutenant Leon Gilbert, disproportionate court-martials of Negro soldiers, and a quote from Thurgood Marshall about the army's Jim-Crow policy. It also notes the lack of Black political representation in Congress, asking "So much for your rights at home." Continuation of the leaflet. The text details racial disparities in officer commissions across the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, quoting from President Truman's own Civil Rights Committee. It also alleges discrimination in the rotation system for soldiers returning home. The text argues that the war in Korea and domestic discrimination are connected, quoting a petition to the UN: "White supremacy at home makes for colored massacres abroad."
