I encourage you to read her full comments, not because they exculpatory — they absolutely are not — but because they're dangerously close to self awareness about the trap that hasbarists find themselves in.

It is truly remarkable how the modern republican party has moved from a party of limited government and moralism to a party of feudalism. Expiring health benefits will pass, but pardons for white collar criminals continue. It seems increasingly obvious that a modern aristocracy is being created 1/2

With current pledges, the world's on track for 2.6°C of warming in 2100 compared to preindustrial levels.

10 years ago, before the Paris agreement, it was 3.6°C

20+ years ago, we thought it would be 4-5°C

So 2.6°C is better, but the problem is that climate impacts are way worse than we predicted.
World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds
Fossil fuel emissions have hit a record high while many nations have done too little to avert deadly global heating

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

ICE has beaten, detained & arrested 170 citizens, at least 3 of whom were pregnant

George Retes is a US veteran who was held in solitary for 3 days

Kristi Noem says it’s not happening, but @motherjones.com has done the reporting

If they treat citizens this way, imagine what they do to immigrants

NEW: About 90,000 people living near larger chemical plants face an unacceptable risk of developing cancer, the EPA says.

New rules adopted last year could’ve cut that number to 3,000 residents — a drop of 97%.

But Trump has halted those efforts.
Air Pollution From Industrial Facilities Is Far Worse Than Estimated
The Trump administration has put a stop to EPA rules that would have required more than 130 industrial facilities to install air monitors to measure pollution. Millions of people living near these pla...

Catharsis and Contradiction in Luka’s Return to Dallas
Tears. Stepback 3s. “Fire Nico” chants. No. 77 Lakers jerseys and “Thanks for everything” tees. Doncic’s homecoming was a truly powerful night of basketball that never should have happened.

The arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil—a green card holder whose wife is eight months pregnant—is a blatant assault on the First Amendment and a sign of advancing authoritarianism under Trump. He must be released now.
This extreme escalation is an egregious violation of first amendment rights. Now is the moment to speak out and oppose this as fiercely and loudly as possible.
