This is a good policy for pretty much every billionaire big idea.
- Colonize asteroids or other planets? Great, but the first job for resources is to fix climate on Earth
- Massive power consumption for AI Data centers? Great, but first major task is solving sustainability
- Self driving? 4 transit!
The initial colonist launch is cheap. Henceforth every resupply mission should face an adverse impact to home planet analysis. You shouldn’t be allowed to create massive energy deficit or emissions on earth for shit on mars.

here’s the thing though. The fact that Trump just pardoned a guy who funneled billions of dollars to Hamas will not do anything to convince right wing Jews that he’s bad for Israel, because they already could’ve seen the time when he gave the names of embedded Mossad agents in Syria to the Russians

There is no legitimate explanation to think Trump is good for anybody other than Trump unless you are willfully ignorant at this point.

No room for benefit of the doubt. If you think he’s good for you, then you are refusing to accept the evidence of your eyes and ears.

Destroying US influence in the world more effectively than any adversary the US has ever faced.
The administration stayed home from Halifax and forced the US military to do so as well. This isn’t an aberration: Also over the weekend, the administration boycotted the G20 in S Africa. How does the Trump team expect to win any diplomatic victories when it’s not even on the field? wapo.st/4oZH3wz
Opinion | America has become a rogue nation. U.S. allies are looking elsewhere.

Limiting rights for anyone means that rights can be limited for everyone.

I wish that we still had two parties in the United States that actually believed in freedom and democracy.
Ukraine should accept no limits on its sovereignty that have not been accepted by other European countries. If it’s forced to do that, it will be accepting second class citizenship in Europe and the principle that Russia can treat it as a state with inferior rights

TIL that in pretty much every state in the country, regulated utilities get way more profit than other industries.

Good piece by @johnffarrell.bsky.social on how to reduce utility bills for Americans.

The kids* want to be alrite.

Listen to them.

*even accomplished young professionals, unless they were fortunate enough to get a small loan of a few million dollars from their parents.
Young people feel like we've lost agency over our lives. We can't *really* pick where to live, or whether to change jobs, or how many kids to have -- the cost of living makes us feel trapped.

Younger candidates can powerfully speak to that emotional truth. talkingpointsmemo.com/cafe/young-c...

We know how to honor the image of soldiers charging forward, but we often forget to cheer the backs of troops as they peaceably depart.

Gay rights are human rights, and denying them means that you can deny rights to anyone.

This is outstanding.
BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

I pray that God exists and is just and is making a special hell for Greg Bovino.
Gregory Bovino’s deposition is out. Check here and @chicagotribune.com for highlights. Throughout, Bovino was evasive and combative. In this, while being asked about a photo showing him throwing tear gas, Bovino said: “You said canister. I threw two. That’s plural.”

Someone should tell the BBC about this unprecedented corruption in the presidency
One man -- Marco Rubio -- serves this country as both National Security Adviser and Secretary of State.

And he was nowhere near the drafting of that Ukraine 'peace plan,' which was instead devised by the president's real-estate buddy and his son-in-law.

Centrist Democrats do not have to accept the lies told by the Republicans in order to seem moderate by comparison. They can just point out what's going on and say it's wrong.
It doesn’t involve throwing immigrants or trans folks under the bus; just in pointing out how regressive current life in these United States is, and making efforts to make it better.
