Tl;dr Republicans want to cut the list of "professional degrees" so that many fewer are eligible for the highest level of student loans. Fields cut include nursing, PT, public health. They forced this through a committee but it will have to go through regulatory process. Fight is just beginning.

I think we need to figure out some AI-poisoners for text, frankly.
Saw a post today that advised writers to stop writing as if a human will read it and start writing for an LLM that will be summarising.

I think we need to figure out some AI-poisoners for text, frankly.
I feel like a lot of baffled reporting on suffering Republican voters still claiming they would vote for Trump again completely miss that it's about identity politics. Being conservative is a core identity that overrides all else.

whole thread is worth reading, but the takeaway is here: the chatGPT use by vulnerable populations problem is bigger than it validating personal narratives to push folks into delusion or suicide. it's helping organize and support disordered thinking that would normally collapse on its own.
We’re watching a shift where AI simulates the cohesion and reinforcement that used to require an entire online community. A single person can now build a complete parallel reality with nothing more than a prompt window. Which seems bad.
