The Consumables system now works (though I've only set up one type so far), now I move on to the time progression bit of the time management game.
I cannot believe I made nearly a whole ass game without using set by refs. So many hacky workarounds because I didn't know what it was called and my googling failed me. I think I might be stupid.
A Screenshot inside Unreal Engine, showing a set by ref for an Enum.
Question: Is "Several Vibe Based Miscellaneous Book Piles" a valid organisation strategy?

"Oh Sean, why are these books together?"
"Because they all have sort of circly glyphs in their titles, no more questions."

I am prepared for the game to punish me for this system.
Alright, swapping now works within the "day," it won't let you swap a non-evening task into the evening, and with a real bodgy work-around I've got the tooltips working again.
Better. Closer. Warmer.

I can't say I'm fond of how I've actually implemented this, but we're getting there.
Today's adventures in "why is game dev so hard?" as I try to set up click-drag UI elements for a little time management game I'm prototyping as a breather.
I would like to take this opportunity to state that I yearn for a DLC made up entirely of new Trobbio fights, each cuntier than the last. No lore, no exploration, just Trobbio.
RIP.

Honestly, I would have uninstalled the game by that point (I have little patience for my own failure!).

I was annoyed and went hyper-aggressive, and it worked for me, but I may have also just been lucky.
After three goes at that room I had to take a break.

Returned the next day, reached them on my fourth go, beat it on the fifth. So, *objectively* I didn't struggle all that much, compared to many other fights, but it pissed me off way more than most.
That brings back memories. I did alright at the tactics portion of the game, but ~8 year old me was terrible at the strategic layer, so I'm not sure I ever even managed to capture a county. I remember it fondly.
I have 4.9 hours in the demo, I think about .7 of that was "finishing" the demo, and the rest was desperately failing to get a hat to a tower. The full game scares me.
I was a little surprised when my father recommended The Pitt to me a few weeks ago, as he's normally pretty dismissive of medical shows, but the first episode mentioned access block like 3 times in the first 20 minutes, so I now understand why he liked it.

Happy fma day for those who celebrate ✨
kicking off this acc with Ed and Al ✨ #fullmetalalchemist
I hit credits on Consume Me this evening, I wasn't even trying to hyper-optimise and I got the A++ final grade, so it's nice to know I'm not completely washed.

That's a delightful game.
I know a lot of it is familiarity, but I feel like the Extreme Measures changes in Hades were much less difficult than their Vow of Rivals equivalents (in fact I preferred the "Harder" Lernie fight).

These new mechanics are kicking my ass.
A new build for Careening & its demo are now live, and I'm thrilled to announce that the game is 25% off as part of Melbourne International Games Weeks' Steam Event.

This is a great chance to check out some delightful aussie made games.

If its pogo wasn't terrible, and if it didn't cost millions of shards, I would consider fully switching to this build for the late game.
Hadn't even reached the boss in Silksong, but I was getting so tilted on the runback to the Crust King that I switched from my reliable Witch build to an Architect / Plasmium, and then just hid in the corner of the rooms, whittling enemies down.
Sometimes making a game is a thrilling adventure in problem solving, creation, and riding the line between art and product.

And sometimes you make a change to your dialog font and then have to check every single paragraph in engine to make sure the words aren't escaping from the box.
Alright, and that's Victory at the other side of Hades 2. Absolutely brute-forced my way through that final fight. Not an ounce of strategy (labelled as Graphic for Spoilers).
The "Glory" screen of Hades 2, for defeating the Surface side of the game.
Scorch is crazy good. Some of my greatest successes in Early Access were from Scorch on the dagger special, you can build up huge amounts really quickly.
Had to really lock in for the last 8% of his health on my next go.
A Screenshot of Hades 2, showing just the health bar (and mana bar). It shows health at 1/149, two death defiances used with none remaining.
Alright, first victory in Hades 2 (of the full release), my build as a whole didn't really work, but I picked up the Hestia / Aphrodite duo at the very last store, which let me scrape over the line.
The Victory screen of Hades 2, emphasis on Super Nova, which increased the size of Casts by 60%, Smolder Ring, which repeatedly cast Scorch on foes in Cast, Glamour Gain which automatically hit nearby enemies with weak, and Burning Desire which means that weak enemies do not lose Scorch as it inflicts damage.
Nemesis just stole the chaos gate I paid to spawn. I'd be angry if I wasn't so impressed.
A screenshot of Hades 2. Melinoe stands next to a Chaos Gate that is sealed shut.
Picked up Unfair Flips by selling some more Steam Cards, and I was starting to think that I was cursed by this point.
A Screenshot of Unfair Flips, it shows the coin exploded in centre screen, a Heads Chance of 55%, and Total Flips of 1,666.
