I think it's time to get a little bit organized with my #mcoc #ChampionRework posts.

This is going to be my Champion Rework Megathread.

Original #Avengers Champions:

I know there may not be too many #mcoc players on here yet, but I wanted to express some thoughts I have about their character designs for MCU original #Avengers Champions.

Breaking MS NOW:

Trump's Justice Department has decided there will be no civil rights investigation of the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, and instead two units of DHS will investigate their own officers and the man they killed.
No civil rights violation probe into latest MN shooting, sources tell MS NOW
As DHS takes over the federal investigation, current and former law enforcement agents warn that Trump’s DOJ isn’t committed to facts or fairness.

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and Keith Porter Jr. were murdered. Marimar Martinez was shot. Mahmoud Khalil was arrested and jailed.

The next could be you.

What’s at stake isn’t just our democracy. It’s also your safety and security and that of your loved ones.

This is personal — to every one of us.

The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased. Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power. Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless….

Remember this.

Hearing Mike Johnson fantasize (i.e., lie) about Trump being the worthiest person ever to deserve the Nobel peace prize because he stopped oh so many wars, it just occurred to me: the only war Trump ever actually stopped is the war against the sexual predators on Epstein Island.

The US is a great place to live for the super rich and super famous. For everyone else, plenty of other places would offer a better life. And yet, a big chunk of the latter group doesn't demand better from the US, because the former group convinced them that they too could be rich or famous someday.
If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

this crystallizes why, despite truly heroic solidarity and activism, i can’t quite get in the “we’re going to win” mindset right now. the harm is so active and there’s so much violence we don’t even know about. people are being turned into ghosts.

The NY Times concludes that the ICE agent who shot Renee Good was NOT hit by her car

“the visual evidence shows no indication that..Jonathan Ross, had been run over..It also establishes-millisecond by millisecond-how Mr. Ross put himself in a dangerous position near her vehicle in the first place”

Dear trump,

You're a desperate loser.
You took a guy's Purple Heart.
You lied about Michigan's "Man of the Year" award.
You took Machado's Nobel Peace Prize.
It's a participation trophy.

On Obama's worst day, and your best,
he will ALWAYS be better.

The world laughs at you.
Pathetic.

Let’s talk about abolishing ICE.

Very few people who say “abolish ICE” mean “abandon all immigration enforcement.” Rather, they mean “the structure of immigration enforcement is irretrievably broken and needs to be reorganized, just like we did 23 years ago when we created ICE.”

Stop saying we shouldn’t impeach Nazis because they’ll be replaced by someone worse. We should never stop fighting to remove these evil monsters. Don’t obey in advance.

I've read most of the scholarship about US policing since the early 20th century. What you learn from this is that violence is inherent. You cannot "separate" out violence from policing. Police in the U.S. are violence workers.

This is what happens when you give proud boys a badge. 😡

Murderers belong in prison, not on the taxpayers' payroll.
BBC is reporting that the same ICE officer who murdered Renee Good was involved in another violent incident in June.

Who's ballooning out the deficit? It ain't the Dems. Between Trumps attacks on foreign nations, cuts that cost way more than they saved, DOGE, and yet more tax cuts for billionaires, Republicans are rushing headlong into insolvency, planning to blame it all on Dems.
As Sen John McCain said, Trump spends money like a drunken sailor... and mostly, he spends it on himself and his friends.

I don’t understand how the first reaction from leadership isn’t “This is an impeachable offense. My colleagues must defund Hegseth and begin drafting articles immediately.”

Like, even if it doesn’t get done, how are you not planting this flag in the ground immediately?
January 4, 2026 at 2:45 AM
So what I'm reading is that it's completely fine to capture the leaders of nations and hold them for trial for crimes.

Trump's in DC, world leaders! He's set your precedent. Go get him!
So many strikes.
So little time.

Yeah, man, the only difference between your career and Mark Rufallo’s career is the political stuff.

They can't. They risk "alienating their wealthy donors" who are thrilled to continue to fund a center-right corporatist party that is just far enough to the left of the Republican party to be vilified as a "liberal" alternative.

They're an alternative, sure, but not even close to being liberal.
We need a new generation of leaders who are the voices of democracy, freedom, social justice, & the rule of law.

A new generation that renews the “we” in “we the people.”

Instead of fretting over Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party should embrace him as part of its future.
