I've had another surge of followers (hello!) so it's (re)introduction time.

I'm a UK-based freelance illustrator.

I offer human-powered book artwork for indie authors and small press publishers: covers, interior illustrations, maps, and character art.

I've had a sneak preview of this series and it's excellent. Please keep an eye (ear?) out for it when it debuts later this month.

Excited to finally launch my new audio drama from Definitely Human! The Divide is a 12 part spy thriller set in 1964 & arriving in your local branch of podcasts on 24th October. The art you can see here is by the amazing @bookcoversbyjon.bsky.social who is very much available for this kind of thing!

Not a new piece but one that feels like a good fit for this time of year.

I've had a few projects postponed this month so I have availability for book cover and character art commissions.

* Illustrated or photo-based covers

* Sci-fi, fantasy, and horror character art

All reposts very much appreciated as I am hoping I can fill these gaps in my schedule this month.

And one of the industries which, relying entirely on freelance workers, but requiring public audience spaces, was fucked over completely by the pandemic, without mercy or assistance, but survived, on its knees so it can now get another kick in the teeth from these soulless twats.

Hey kids!

Remember when the pandemic struck and eventually the (Tory) government told everyone to stay at home, and the arts and entertainment industries were one of the few things keeping everyone from pulling our own eyes out of our skulls from abject fear and boredom?

Remember that?

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

This is pretty cool. One of the books I worked on, Crossed by MB Thurman, now has an accompanying album.

Singer-songwriter Cherish Danae has recorded an EP of songs, inspired by the book.

Lost & Found was released last week and you can listen here:

Quick reminder that I have a small selection of premade book covers available at reasonable prices at BookCoversByJon.com

There are some thriller covers (because they are fun to make) and some more unusual designs that I fancied trying.

Perhaps they would be just right for your story.
A bright green set of fanged teeth surround the title "Wolf Bite" on a dark purple background. The title "Taste of Poison" sits over a green bottle containing liquid. A label hangs from it with a skull on it. Leaves and berries surround the bottle. A bright, colourful design with the title "Falling into Tomorrow". A silhouette of a man falls into a circular design that looks like a spiral but is actually an optical illusion. A thriller cover with a woman walking away down a snowy path at night.

One of my old footballing team mates is setting off on a trek across the Sahara. He's hit his target but it's a great cause and more donations will always be welcomed.

Congratulations on hitting your target, and good luck for Trek Sahara 2025! www.justgiving.com/page/simon-b...

There's something so totally captivating about painting portraits, real or imagined - I don't think I'll ever tire of it ✨❤️

Another look at this recent portrait. I really enjoyed painting happy, smiling people for a change.

I've started this but it's a long read so I'll be dipping in and out.

Seems very much like a bubble to me...
