It's an all-ages show, there's no merch, and a ticket is five bucks.

Voting 13 Songs before someone shows up to say it's a compilation.

The audience for Kirk/TPUSA consists entirely of people who at least one young person in their life has stopped talking to them.

Oh, no, Bleach is a better album than Steel Wheels.

I love Penelope Spheeris' 'Decline of Western Civilization' movies!

I agree, but Nirvana gets too much of the credit (through no fault of their own, Cobain clearly didn't want it). Their success is built on Sonic Youth and The Pixies and etc., and if Nirvana had never existed, 'Rolling Stone' and the RRHOF would tell a very similar story about Pearl Jam or somebody.

I've heard it suggested that, whenever DJT says 'like a dog,' what he really wants to say is 'like a bitch.'

Maybe Eric inherited it.

Hair metal dudes: Nirvana killed our careers.

Me: Your labels did that.

Non-commercially-viable indie bands: We got signed to a major.

Me: One single, then straight to the cutout bins.

MTV: After 'Teen Spirit,' we started playing videos with ugly people in them.

Me: Okay, that one's fair.

Nirvana is overrated, the narrative around their impact is overstated, and 'Bleach' should have neither been seeded this high nor advanced this far.

Neneh Cherry is a very talented and creative performer with an amazing life story who has charted her own musical path--there are a not a lot of performers who have recorded with Mats Gustafsson and Notorious B.I.G.

Here's that non-album track:

'World music' is a bad category because it's not a real genre, it breaks the classification system--there are Japanese rappers and Ethiopian jazz musicians, where do they belong--and it pushes non-Western music to the background.

That said, a lot of the music in that section is really great.

People like to rip on the “world music” section but as a (very dorky) kid it represented fathomless mystery and exploration

Both good albums. I went for JAMC, surprising myself, because today I thought Automatic is a better example of a noisy indie album from 1989 than The Cactus Album is an example of a hip-hop album from 1989.

Here's a non-album 3rd Bass track anyway: 'The Cactus (Egyptian Mix)':

There’s an essay to be written about how maga patriotism is just shitty fandom. Anyone who follows sports knows fans like this, it’s always the ref’s fault, the other team doesn’t exist, there’s some plot/player/coach holding the team back otherwise they’d always win easy bsky.app/profile/atru...

Trump: "The problem with Vietnam, we, you know, we stopped fighting to win. We would've won easy. We would've won Afghanistan easy. We would've won every war easy. But we got politically correct. 'Oh, let's take it easy.' We're not politically correct anymore, just so you understand."
