The thing I love about Fraction and Mora’s current BATMAN run, besides the stand-alone nature of each issue, is it shows how Batman can be fun again. So many Batman stories are all about being as grim and grisly as possible. These stories are still thrilling, but brighter. #comicsky

A host of Ukrainian talent, including educator and activist Naiem, comic artist Vus, and comic artist and lecturer Kypibida, comes together to provide an insightful glimpse into the current lives of Ukrainians under the Russian invasion, as well as the history leading to it. The narrative bounces through the various eras of Ukraine's history, including the founding of the Kyivan Rus in the ninth century, the USSR confiscating resources from peasant Ukrainians, Stalin's efforts to replace the peasantry with controlled industrial classes, the annexation of Crimea, the modern conflict, and the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam. The creators detail a number of significant events and how they connect to modern Ukrainians. The art, with its array of orange shades, is crucial to comprehending these histories and uses familiar graphic journalism techniques, such as layering panels and combining personal accounts with well-considered facts. While the writing is appropriately choppy to fit the jagged, nonlinear flow of the narrative, this is nonetheless a thorough and easily accessible resource to help understand a complex situation. As informative as it is beautiful, Dumais and Dungo's inviting volume takes readers on a journey through the history of skateboarding with just a dash of autobiography. In lovely shades of purple and orange, each signifying the present or the past, Dungo's art accomplishes a lot, from recreating actual events to how-to guides, making the history of skateboarding nearly ollie off the page. Dumais includes personal connections to the material, with illustrated memories scattered throughout, which will help the book connect with current skaters even more. The creators take readers through the sport's history, beginning in California, the rise and fall and rise again of skate parks, skateboarding's connections to "surfploitation," and more. The reader learns of the ways that the sport has been influenced by social movements and vice versa, and the pros and cons of skateboarding being mass-marketed. Skater teens are the obvious audience here, but even those who might look down on skate culture might flip a 180 in their opinion. Hand to fans of Rick Remender, Brian Posehn, and Brett Parson's Grommets (2025).

As of this morning, here are the six "most backed" projects on Kickstarter.
What do they all have in common? They're all indie creator brands. Franchises built from the ground up, that continue to serve their fanbases and find new audiences.
And most importantly, they're likely sustainable.
