"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public" - Theodore Roosevelt

He has a hole inside him. I don't know why it's there, but I know he tries to fill it with money and with praise. And a man that dependent on money and praise is never his own master. Not over his emotions, and not over his actions. He's too easily manipulated.
The system is broken- democracy is being choked to death by racism, fear, and the inequality bought & paid for by wicked ppl who worship greed.
The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion, after getting $1.2 trillion richer over the past year alone.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country is getting squeezed by tariffs and high prices for groceries, utilities, and health care.

The system is broken.

The thing about No Kings the GOP doesn't seem to get isn't that we hate you as much as it is that we recognize you for what you are.

You're a threat. You're a threat to our lives, our livelihoods, our families, our friends.

We WILL drive you out of power. You haven't given us any other choice.

They use govt accounts, employees & resources to make partisan political messages.

They make partisan political speeches attacking the opposition party to troops routinely.

They get pardoned when they commit crimes.

They ignore the laws.

There is zero congressional oversight.

In 2005, I wrote an article called "Inventing Akromiya" about how the government of Uzbekistan made up a group called Akromiya to justify a massacre of civilian protesters.

Twenty years later, the US is more like Uzbekistan, and I wrote "Inventing Antifa": sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/inventing-...
Inventing Antifa
In 2005, the Uzbek government invented a group called “Akromiya” to justify massacring protesters. Now I worry the US government will do the same.

Yes- we need to actually make changes. Citizens United exposed how the rich are sycking the marrow from our bones- the Electoral College was a giveaway to the former slave plantations and still drags us down & finally, it's a joke that citizens of DC & PR & Guam & USVI have no representation.
New in PN: Osita Nwanevu on the imperative for a new American founding

"To get to deeper systemic changes, we have to adopt a rhetoric and messaging about democracy that's more galvanizing than what was offered in this last election, when it was just about institutional defense."
“We need to conceive of democracy as something more revolutionary”

The Supreme Court has set the December calendar. The big campaign finance case, NRSC v. FEC, will be heard on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

I will be arguing for the Democratic Party Intervenors in defense of the law and against the GOP petition.

🔥 TEXAS — @jamestalarico.bsky.social : “Cornyn & Paxton don’t stand for freedom, family, and faith… they stand for control, cruelty, and corruption.”
No, gotta disagree, it is in fact easy to tell. They are awful idiots.

The Santos commutation is a prelude to a Ghislaine Maxwell pardon.

Mark my words.
This.
Are we still like a deer in the headlights? I think too many are.
Senator Murphy, courts weaponized, media consolidated, troops deployed to opposition cities, truth suppressed. This is controlled chaos — it’s a plan. Democracy won’t survive on autopilot, "We aren’t nearing authoritarianism — we’re living it."

Only in the Federalist Society academic bubble could you say that the government going in and splitting up geographically contiguous communities of Black voters in order to prevent them from ever being a majority in any House district is "government not taking race into account."

Hochul: "They promised to extract revenge on their political enemies & apparently any state that has a D gov. Tell me how Florida & Texas could receive these same funds w/o having to go to court? They're playing politics, but more than that, they're playing with people's lives. And that's abhorrent"

I haven't been careful enough about keeping every bill, and First Energy deletes them after a year, but the net effect is going from bills around $70 in 2021, to $90 in 2023 to $130-140 in 2025. But ChatGPT will do sexytimes soon, which is way better than curing cancer or funding my Roth IRA
People on the town reddit fighting over data centers and power costs again (we live just north of data center central, Loudon Co., Virginia, and it's constantly threatening to expand). The price really is crazy though: it's almost doubled in four years, from 6.3 cents to 10.9 on the most recent bill
