Huge applause as Starmer declares Britain has moved beyond the Brexit years. One of the strongest EU speeches by a PM in decades - yet barely covered by the BBC or MSM. While serious leadership is ignored, airtime still goes to Farage and recycled outrage. Kuenssberg, Zeffman, Mason, Gibb - out.

Reform UK has lost 41 councillors in the past 8 months: 11 expelled, 6 suspended, 13 who left the party (often to sit as independents) or joined other parties, and 11 who resigned from the council entirely.

That is a rate of 5.6%, the highest of any political party in the UK.

"The abuse of women by male predators and their enablers – and Britain’s as yet unacknowledged role – has shocked me to the core. It demands an in-depth police investigation, and is by far the biggest scandal of all"

This is vital stuff from Gordon Brown. Hope the police & Government listen up.

Very much looking forward to seeing more about the Bill tomorrow but expect significant amendments post-Rycroft.

Many loopholes re foreign money and blockbuster funding to be gone through in detail at committee stage, which I hope to be on as Bill will require forensic scrutiny.

Council Tax has become increasingly regressive.

It now takes nearly 5% of income from the poorest families but barely 1% from the richest. For many, it's become a grinding monthly obligation to rival the Poll Tax.

Voters are ANGRY about immigration according to Cummings' latest diatribe.

And yet, British Social Attitudes data published today shows voters split evenly between positive-neutral-negative on migrant impact on economy and culture.

Some voters are ANGRY. Most are not.

We have 5 year terms in the UK for a reason. Any incoming administration needs that time to make the changes that are needed AND SEE THEM COME INTO EFFECT. Those who expect instant results are ridiculous mewling infants frankly. That has never been more true than it is now

Here is my conclusion after sitting through Maxwell's deposition with her refusing to answer a single question about the men who raped underage girls, saying she would only do so for clemency.

She must immediately be sent back to the maximum security prison where she belongs.

NEW - Statement from the Tribune group of soft left MPs backing Starmer to remain as PM.

But a subtle call for a cabinet reshuffle, saying change will require "a Cabinet and front bench that reflect the breadth of views across the PLP... and the diverse traditions that make up our movement."

This is correct. 💯
I despair at calls for the PM to resign, Labour learned nothing from Tories? Another PM, another target for the right wing media to bring down & it doesn’t matters who they are. Their unpatriotic billionaire owners want low tax small state more than a functional UK @bbcnews-world-rss.bsky.social

Reform UK’s mid-level governance is an utter disaster. Nevertheless, the media are pushing the idea of them in national government as if it would be any better. All of this happened just this week, yet journalists are obsessed with a fabricated ‘scandal of the century.’

I do think that the media are ramping up this Mandelson thing… Sure it’s a huge scandal, but there has been very little fever to ask about others involved…

Almost like he is been used to hide all the other things and because of his links to Labour it’s been used to protect others…
