If you can't ask the question, then that side is extreme. Pendulum swingers. Fragile logic. Asking is the most compassionate thing we can do in a imploding society. Everyone thinks they know. Asking requires listening and exchanging. The best questions are uncomfortable to answer but crucial to ask.

Monumental

Friends was what I came to
celebrate, crystal decanter,
wine, steady flow of years.

What I meant was I’m happy,
dull-fire in the belly
or a quickening, like butterflies,

anxious, blue, rebirth.

Figuratively,
I meant the fish pulled in,
then released—like a good deed.

While you host,
the lantern dimming my hands,

I recall that caged, golden tiger,
pawing at humidity.

Sign-language for hunger
—or the tender lobes of peonies.

Through the bellglass,
too little wine,
too much of her.

Think about what the GOP is revealing with their attempt to suddenly change the Congressional maps: they know their agenda is so unpopular that they're going to lose unless something changes.
