Before Brexit, the UK was tied to EU rules that stopped governments from handing out public money to big companies just to boost their profits in SEZs. It was called “State aid”, regulations designed to keep things fair and prevent a race to the bottom.

Problem is, this government has expedited the establishment of 84 Freeports, SEZs / FEZs (initiated by the tories). The deals are done and effectively make it impossible to rejoin as the EU.

Finland's approach to housing the homeless is a comprehensive, well-funded national strategy aimed at ending it by treating a home as a universal human right. They also provide free health support and assistance with addiction etc. There’s virtually no homeless in Finland.
