Dems have won or overperformed 226 out of 254 key & special elections in 2025, nearly 90%! Last night Ds flipped Miami’s mayorship electing its 1st D mayor in almost 30 yrs & 1st female mayor, Eileen Higgins! In Georgia, D Eric Gisler flipped a 22-point R state house seat overcoming R’s gerrymander!

A Democrat hasn’t been elected Mayor of Miami in nearly 30 years. VP Harris beat Trump in Miami by just one point last year. Tonight, Eileen Higgins became the first Democrat to win in three decades and won by 19 points. This is a very, very bad sign for the GOP.

We have a broken healthcare system that must be fixed, but the solution in the short-term isn't to deny people the ACA tax credits that they rely on.

We must extend the subsidies so people aren't kicked off their healthcare next month, *and* we need Medicare for All.

I remember when Jasmine Crockett walked out of the TX legislature to protect voting rights & deny a quorum, over 4 years ago, so you’re gonna need a more convincing argument than James being one of the people to do it recently when she became a House Rep after* this. 19thnews.org/2021/06/texa...

Jasmine Crockett: “If the numbers are strong that I am our best shot, then it’s bigger than my district — It’s bigger than the state of Texas — This is about the country because we know if we can change the Senate map in this country, then that’s where we start to get wins”

Jasmine Crockett didn’t just launch a #Senate run — she lit a match under Trump’s fragile ego. The ad is sharp, fearless, and pure Texas energy. If the GOP wants to play insult politics, she’s showing up bilingual in that language. Texas hasn’t felt this electric in years. Sen. Crocket? Yeah!

2025 has been a year unlike anything we've seen in the US.

In the second Trump administration, attacks on journalists are no longer sporadic. They're systematic.

I'm seeing people wonder why ICE is going after Charlotte.

ICE has been at war with Charlotte's sheriff ever since he won in 2018.

We'd covered this at Bolts back in the day; this quote is from that sheriff:
“When the 8 African American sheriffs took over the largest counties in North Carolina, it became a threat to the good ol’ boy system,” says the sheriff of Charlotte. These new sheriffs broke ties with ICE.

But GOP lawmakers cracked down this week, overbidding the governor’s veto to adopt this law:
North Carolina GOP Is Cracking Down on the Black Sheriffs Who Stood Up to ICE
Boosted by new supermajorities, Republicans are closing in on legislation to mandate more collaboration with ICE and preempt local policies hard-won by immigrants’ rights advocates.
