The cofounder Stefan mentioned in this article is the fucking man. They deserve all the funding they can get, and I’m a tough critic of those that work with the differently able.

Of course they’ve been affected by the cuts we had to make for the stormtroopers, a great place to put your charitable $
Make Studio is such a great place here in Baltimore; awhile back @rebekahkirkman.bsky.social wrote a great profile of the studio

My, what a fun game. I'll go next! It just dawned on me that if the ICE agent was an ice cream man, and the woman was not even driving a car, and instead of three bullets he gave her three scoops of delicious ice cream, no one would even be upset...

They are extremely unpopular, unable to significantly expand their forces (they are already poaching local police for ICE and reassigning significant percentages of FBI/ATF toward enforcement), lacking in organizational resilience and one bum ticker/blood clot away from total movement collapse

Even if Kash Patel's FBI doesn't care, making this act of explicit cover-up advances the overall political goal of thwarting authoritarian takeover, by making the Feds look more and more and more toxic.

Also, re: the BCA pulling out:

Even if its harder, the BCA (and MPD, and everyone else) should keep investigating because of POLITICS.

PUBLICLY investigate, make it clear it's bc the FBI is covering things up. Hold daily pressers about progress and publicly shame the FBI.

Yes, it's bad the FBI ran the crime scene and is now not sharing info. That will make any prosecution a harder than it needs to be.

But the MPD can investigate still; hell, even the BCA could if they wanted to, and I find their excuses here kinda lame.

So this isn't great, but as the FBI itself acknowledges, it cannot "take over" investigations from local actors.

Which means the MPD retains the full authority to investigate a murder that happened on non-federal MN land, even if it pisses off the FBI.

it can get a little old talking about the media regurgitating the "-involved" / "feared for his life" language of the state (a practice media has not done a better job of handling even in recent years www.huffpost.com/entry/police...) but it deployed for ICE killing someone is why this stuff matters

Rather than people making this fatuous point, I think they should set their aims higher and make the positive case for why a US President credibly accused of massive corruption, violation of Constitutional Law and sexual assault of minors should be trusted with an illegal regime change operation.

this type of "signposting" is exactly the same sort of bullshit every progressive dweeb newsroom posts after a weeklong retreat involving word clouds and trust falls where they "realign" their "mission" thanks to their new EIC/ED except it's "unwoke" now
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”
