Good lord, reading these comments. How is it that this many people have zero control over what their under 16 year olds are doing in the internet?? Just proves we don't need bans or dangerous "prove your age" checks with irl IDs... We need to teach parents.

this is more translation adjacent but if as translator or adapter you write a particular speech quirk for a major character you will have to continue writing every single line of theirs that way for the entire rest of the thing. plan accordingly
To my fellow translators: what do you wish someone had taught you about translation (whether the act or translation or having a freelance job) that you had to learn by yourself?

My first taste of the industry was someone from a major network reached out and asked if I was interested in pitching any children's shows. In the contract provided it said they could already be developing that exact same idea and they would owe me nothing for it. Big red flag, bounced immediately.
