A lot of people think that every international student admitted means one fewer spot for domestic students, when the opposite is more likely true - the tuition revenue international students bring allows public universities to provide substantial discounts to domestic students, improving access.

This is a new one - I got an email saying “our AI found a $12,000 funding opportunity that aligns perfectly with your research”. It gave me the name and deadline and said it was an APF grant. But there is no such grant on APF’s website. It appears to be completely made up.

A bit of a flyer request, but I know a PhD student looking to find a sponsor for EASP membership to attend the conference. Is anyone in my network a full member who would be open to sponsoring her? She’ll do all the paperwork, etc. I think the deadline is soon so any help would be appreciated!

It’s a question our students ask a lot. I tell them that doing a VA prac is great if they have the opportunity, but don’t let the lack of VA experience stop them from applying to VA internships. But I’m curious whether this is still good advice!

Question for folks affiliated with VA psychology internships - do you expect applicants to have practicum experience in a VA setting? Or are students with strong training still competitive without having worked in a VA?

Academic friends, if your NSF grants have been terminated by the administration, FABBS is hosting a webinar Friday about appealing the decisions. It's important that as many people appeal as possible to show we're not accepting this targeting of science. Link to the webinar registration is below.

I’ve been the late-comer reviewer and it’s tough - much better for the editor make a decision based on the first round of reviews.

I agree that editors should make decisions more often without sending back to reviewers. But I almost always agree to re-review. Otherwise, the editor will likely send it to a different reviewer rather that just deciding themselves, which seems unfair to the authors.
