The boy is collecting all the stickers hidden in We Love Katamari and they're all based on older Namco games, so there's currently a four-year-old walking around my house saying "Splatterhouse 2" over and over again and laughing about it.

there's a surprise celebrity cameo that made me do a double take in this and it's like. the last person you'd expect to see in an a24 movie

the company of wolves (1984)
every bit as lush as i expected an angela carter adaptation to be; it helps that she co-wrote this, too. the stories-within-a-story and dreamlike surreality of this really add to the fairytale quality. i like that it isn't tidy or straightforward
A window overlooking a vast forest at nighttime. Toys, barely visible, sit silhouetted on the windowsill. Curtains flutter behind them like ghosts. An old woman and a young girl sit before a dim hearth in a close, cozy room. The woman winds a ball of brilliant red yarn while the girl holds the yarn for her. A mirror displaying party guests - in 18th century attire at a lavish feast, all powdered wigs, pink chiffon and flowers - seated at a long table. A figure with curly red hair is seen in the left corner, peeking into the mirror as if addressing the crowd. A man in a jewel-toned brocade coat kneels to meet the eye level of the aforementioned girl; she is wearing a bright red cloak over a brown dress. The wooded grotto behind them is dusted with snow.

weapons (2025)
the product placement was pretty egregious but the story and tension here were REALLY good. genuinely unnerving villain. the final scene treads that horror/comedy sweet spot.
you only get one screencap and a vague impression because this one's really worth going into blind
A suburban street at nighttime, dimly lit by streetlamps and porch lights. A child in their pajamas runs off into the darkness, arms outstretched.

a ghost story (2017)
my mom once asked my sister "do you ever think about the marching-on of time" apropos of nothing. that's this movie to me

if you've ever read richard mcguire's "here", that's also this movie to me
A dim living room: books piled on the coffee table, curtains drawn, the only light from a window down the hall. A sheet ghost looms in the left corner. A young woman in a black sweater, lying on the floor and listening to music through wired headphones. Her expression is somber, her gaze distant. The sheet ghost stands in the wreckage of a house: wood and roof tiling cover the ground around them, and the cloudy sky and dark trees beyond cast a gloom over the scene. The sheet ghost, pictured from behind, stands on a rooftop looking out over a great city. The buildings are light up with holographic displays. One display over a skyscraper resembles a watchful eye.

the ghosts of past relationships haunt a woman to the point where her -- and the viewer's -- perception of reality is challenged. the more i look back on this one, the more i realized i liked it. also, gorgeous irish countryside shots
A blonde woman in a white room answers a white telephone. She has an uneasy look, as if being watched. A silver camera, centered in frame before a deep mahogany wall. A forest scene. Two women approach a meadow. A flock of sheep huddle together further out, and in the background, a waterfall rushes behind vivid autumn foliage. A dimly lit scene; someone is piecing together a puzzle on a table. On the puzzle is the vague image of a house.

my friend Ahmad and his family of 11 need your help. following the ceasefire, ahmad returned to his home in the north of Gaza alone. they can't afford the transportation cost for the rest of their family to move from the south, nor the cost of rebuilding. please support them ❤️‍🩹

Happy anniversary to the day Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Somewhere, Trump is rage-Googling “how to win Nobel without doing peace.”

I like how the news will be like “while the President claiming Portland was ruled by a giant skeleton named Mr Nibbles is not strictly true, it does speak to the anxiety of many Americans”

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.
The picture from

Two National guardsmen stand guard outside a burning donut shop in Los Angeles on April 30, 1992.
The National Guard was called in to aid police during the second day of rioting in the city.”
