You could argue that with the push to lift the Dublin airport passenger cap and the fight to keep the nitrates derogation (to name a few examples), that they don't even prefer status quo, but that they want to make it worse.

Disappointingly, "growth is good" was the core message in the lead-off keynote (economist) overview at the @seai-ie.bsky.social research conference yesterday. Along with following panel, it was as if Paris & carbon budgets & sectoral ceilings had never happened.
O/w the research presented was good.

The citizens' assemblies on climate action and biodiversity loss gave government overwhelming undivided feedback from the public on what kinds of action they would like taken on both emergencies. They understood the benefits of taking action.
