I'm never going to shut up about the Chicago River. You can go out and see these guys! For free! In the middle of chicago!!!!!!
Across the street from my neighbors who haven't shoveled their sidewalk is an elderly, below the knee amputee whose sidewalk is pristine.

Not a good look...FOR CHICAGO. Don't make my disabled neighbor or these folks who are very nice and just out of town responsible for the public way!!!!!

Not me opening holiday mail and going who the hell is Brandon...?

@bedubble.bsky.social your card is lovely and I hung it on my wall!

Someone here joked that we should include shoveling under the CPD budget and I kind of think that's not the worst idea? If copagandists claim we shouldn't waste police time, the argument is how is it a waste of time to have boots on the ground instead of playing candy crush in a parking lot?

Where is my "I will donate to you but I hate paper mailings, please vow to never send me anything in the mail" checkbox?

I wrote to the NU Alumni Association yesterday to request my removal from all mailings including homecoming etc in light of this news. I urge alums, especially younger alums, to do the same. They need to know this is going to affect the future of giving at the school.

Husband: you're of Eastern European decent but you're not from the Bloc.

Also husband: you should skeet that so your urbanist friends know how funny I am.

This is niche but we have family friends named the Graves and were on a pandemic walk near their house. When I said I wanted to swing by to say a distanced hi, my husband thought I meant Graceland Cemetery.
What's a charming memory you have from the worst period of the pandemic?

This is also true of John Mulaney--he built a brand as a wife guy and then cheated on his wife 🤷‍♀️

It's funny to me when comedians tokenize themselves like this because they frequently accuse women & POC comedians of being unfunny except vis-a-vis identity politics.
Even setting aside not wanting to support him for jacking off in front of people, I feel like the fact that he did it undercut the entire concept of Louis CK as a comedian: that he was a man with repulsive thoughts and urges, but who had attained the self-knowledge that comes with recognizing them
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Taming of the Shrew at Court Theatre was so good--Court is 2 for 2 this season with absolute banger ensembles.

I was skeptical of the metanarrative initially but I absolutely loved it. Bianca was a standout as well as the chemistry between Kate & Petruchio. Go see it before December 14!!

Trucks shouldn't be allowed within city limits. Make them offload their goods to smaller vehicles. I'm tired of IDOT using trucks as an excuse for stroads and I'm tired of trucks on roads they have no business being on.

A semi should never go through a school zone.

A lot of folks who depend on public transit (but aren't as chronically online and bus obsessed as my moots and I are) won't necessarily know how much time, effort, and strategy transit wonks invested in getting here over the past year. But I know and I'm extraordinarily grateful to you all.

Leading medical publication the British Medical Journal recognises SUVs as a danger to public health in a new editorial co-authored by T&E’s James Nix: bit.ly/4hVDlBC

Large SUVs are a danger to pedestrians, cyclists & other drivers.

It's time to take action to reduce their presence in urban areas.
