Solidarity with the hunger strikers.

It is an egregious violation for them to be held on remand - without trial or conviction.

All for protesting against a genocide. Shameful.

Tfl pulled out from their planned road user charging plan ('operation Gladys') and the result is, once again, fare paying tfl users are filling in the financial vacuum with their wallets. So unfair.

What is going on here?

Government announces national rail fare freeze and Mayor of London has to explain to Londoners it doesn’t apply to them.

This is properly messy.

god help us all that this country's most electorally successful party chose this person to be their candidate for mayor of london. this is a dark timeline.

Wild how keith starter's latest outreach idea is having a substack and not instead having a blog on dot gov UK - there are already 137 such ones www.blog.gov.uk

I am guessing he plans on losing the job and its blogging rights in 3-4 years so he or mcsweeney have decided substack is the way to go.

our head honcho is a suited up clown who handwaves and jokes about legalising drugs as 'nuts' while happily partnering with bookies and bomb makers. It is sick.

Join the greens.
Starmer says he’s "taking the gloves off" and that the Greens are "nuts"

Big talk from the PM of vibes based cruelty and trickle down cowardice.

Having your weekend being in the week for the first time in my life is pretty wild stuff. I've had jobs with some late nights and done weekend work often on a freelance basis before, but a job with actual Saturdays and Sundays baked in to it is a new one for me.

Hopefully eases up in Jan.

There's a lot of deficiencies with Our World in Data but the accessibility of the data is very good and I leaned a lot on it during my last degree.

When i last used zipcar it was because a very badly ill friend needed a lift back from Kent to London. User wasn't being accepted and they were too weak to use a train.

Zipcar let me get a car and do this trip and got my friend home to medication and a safe bed, and that's what I think about often.
The BBC says Zip Car has more than 550,000 London members.

That’s 550,000 people who aim to drive as little as possible, but rely on a car club for tricky trips that don’t work by public transport.

TfL is this risky for future levels of car ownership and driving?

Bad news: finished my book so can't use it.

Good news: I can go to the library tomorrow and get another

Closed a bank account and they sent me a cheque of the outstanding balance. I thought this would herald a bit of a pain but I had a quick search and lo, you can actually deposit cheques using your phone banking app. You just scan the cheque and in it goes.

isn't living in 2025 wild.

Very niche item of interest for me is email newsletters in languages you don't speak you don't mind getting anyway.

Mine is emails from the Belgian randonneuring association which is about their upcoming long distance bike riding things. It has two halves: one in flemish, one in french.

It is wild how good it is working fewer hours is for you. I don't start work until 1 and I've used the morning to make a plan for an event I'm helping organise, made a coffee, and planned out my weekend.

Yes I have less cash and my home isn't flash. But I love the energy I have for things.

Fewer workers. Fewer international students. More people leaving.

A "step in the right direction" according to the PM.

Impossible to take PM/govt seriously on growth if they are deliberately reducing it (and making the fiscal position worse) *as a matter of policy*.

The country wants a wealth tax on assets.

They're panicking because "won't the rich just leave" has been utterly debunked.

They've got no actual argument.

Always a striking moment when you're walking on a towpath, and your eye is caught by a lime bike yeeted into its watery grave.

You wonder if they might still work after being dredged up.

People stop migrating to countries for the same reason moths stop flying around lights that, once glowing, are now dimming. And this island is still full of people who will see this is as good news for the outlook.

Wrote a blog post up about why I've decided im not going to ride from Canterbury to Rome, which I've wanted to do for ages.
It was sobering to realise that this isn't something I have the finances for. But I've done some planning about what I can do instead. calumonwheels.com/2025/11/24/n...

If you ever want to take a trip down memory lane of what it was like to use appallingly slow computers at school, go to any library in Islington and live it out in real life. I think I've been at a black screen after trying to log in to print stuff for about 5 minutes.
