I would be very surprised if a full accounting in the future didn't reveal more than one mass grave at the detention centers. If they're behaving this way in public, what's happening out of sight must be many times more brutal.
Imagine what’s happening in the camps.
Imagine how much they’d be lying about what happened without all the videos showing it from multiple angles.

the population of Minneapolis is about 425,000
A windchill of around -30F didn’t stop what organizers say was 50,000 from marching through Minneapolis in one of, if not the largest, march in Minnesota history.

Protesters demand accountability in the killing of Renee Good and removal of the federal agents that have upended daily life in MN.

A coworker took this from her apartment. I haven't seen a crowd this size before. Maybe the first Women's March? But it was much much warmer that day. ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA!

imagine the moral black hole it takes to read this litany of stories and the takeaway from dem leadership is "we cant say abolish ice, people will say we're soft on crime, how about we just endorse retraining the brown shirts instead?"

one thing i’ll note is that the administration is desperate for a repeat of 2020 and the targeted jurisdictions refuse to give it to them
One of the big trends in opposition activism during Trump 2.0 has been the localism of protest. This level of organizing is pretty astonishing to watch, and anyone who insists that there haven't been any protests against Trump is simply ignoring it www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

A small note: terrible things are happening in Minneapolis. But also in Saint Paul. And in the suburbs. And though most of the push is in the metro, things are happening all over the state.

I've been trying to refer to the events as happening in the Twin Cities or in Minnesota.

I cannot express how widespread the idea that “immigrants ruin social cohesion” is on this part of the right. In Theobro/Doug Wilson land, it is the foundational belief that can never be challenged. They draw on 1920s sources to back it up, and it’s crazy how disconnected they are from reality!
Yes. My theory of the moment is Miller/Vance thought their view that immigrants threaten social solidarity would be widely shared. But ICE raids are driving native-born Americans to show solidarity with immigrants quite courageously. Now Miller is trying to disrupt that alliance with state violence.
Insightful point here: Even if you take Trump seriously - he does not like the optics - they rested on an assumption that communities would welcome ICE as heroes, rather than showing the type of solidarity that Trump inherently cannot understand.

On the one hand, have strong self esteem.

On the other hand, never have so much self esteem that you casually send a stranger a voice memo.

So somewhere between “don’t let that man cheat on you” and “let me drop this 6 minute brain fart on a human being I haven’t bothered to break bread with”…

these are numbers that would have previous administration heads rolling.
yet congress doesn't act because the GOP is all Trump.
yet national media continues to treat everything as normal (at best; or carries water for the admin, at worst) because they think it's good content/business.

A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.
