The concept of "taking personal responsibility for driving within the speed limit in a residential area, to avoid tickets but more importantly to avoid hurting people" remains totally elusive to so many people!!
ggwash.org
As Montgomery County officials consider recommendations for safety improvements on one of Maryland's most dangerous roads, some neighbors have a need for speed.
Pro-speeding yard signs appear along University Boulevard

I also once made the mistake of mentioning that fact about reduced STI transmission in front of a classmate who, it soon became clear by how angry and incredulous he got about it, was not circumcised.

"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

Mayor Bowser and President Trump agree: when a legislature says "You must spend this money in this way," the executive can simply disregard the legislature.

DC under Bowser-Trump rule does not want our children to learn.

Chuck Schumer, in an hour from now: The president plans to flood the streets with military personnel to oppress innocent people, but what he should be flooding the streets with is tax credits for the middle class!

We have NEW research on pregnancy-related prosecutions in the first two years after Dobbs, and there are surely more cases.

They show us that giving rights to fertilized eggs, embryos, and fetuses paves the way for people to be ARRESTED and PUNISHED for all pregnancy outcomes — beyond abortion.
In the two years after Dobbs, prosecutors initiated at least 412 cases charging people with crimes related to pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or birth. Prosecutors criminalized 31 people who experienced a pregnancy loss in the 2 years after Dobbs. Pregnancy related prosecutions happened in 16 states. These were the top 3: Alabama, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. Most cases involve allegations of substance use during pregnancy - 399/412

Most cases began in a medical setting - 264/412

Most cases involved the family policing system - 217/412

The rebranding of reactionary gender and biological essentialism as “heterodox and challenging ideas to which liberal students must be exposed” is one of the greatest achievements of our stupid era. Congratulations to the reactionary centrists who helped make it happen - you dupes, you utter dolts.

What's one constituency the Bowser administration caters to more than restaurant group owners? Suburbanites who demand cheap or free street parking directly in front of wherever they're going, apparently.

Interesting how the DC government is able to spring into action and lower the minimum wage when restaurants say that the costs are too much for them, but won't budge on charging them $20 / square foot for outdoor dining space.

If we've talked about housing in DC, you've probably heard me say "Upzone Ward 3!" (& the rest of our wealthy low-density residential areas while you're at it)

Here's a way to tell the Zoning Commission and Council to do just that, via

ACOG reaffirms that acetaminophen is safe for managing pain and fever during pregnancy. No reputable studies support suggestions like those in HHS’s recent announcement linking acetaminophen use in pregnancy to autism; in fact, high-quality studies show no such risk. https://bit.ly/47Wxc59

I'm going to need Big Pharma to start living up to its reputation for unstoppable political power when it could be helpful, like when they're trying to take away vaccines and acetaminophen from pregnant people and children

To the 31 House Democrats who voted with Trump: I would never vote to disenfranchise your constituents, undermine their democratic rights, or impose harsher penalties on them against their will. Regrettably, you have done exactly that to my constituents and legislative body. Shame 😪

Today 31 Democrats chose to side with Donald Trump over DC.

We did not ask for this. It will not make us safer. And fueling this fascist president's agenda is dangerous for our entire country. (🧵)
