Statehood for D.C. is an ethical obligation at this point, required to protect the rights of our residents to govern ourselves against such out-of-state troops being sent to patrol our city.
NEW: Republican-led states, in a new filing at the D.C. Circuit, say D.C. residents are irrelevant, D.C. belongs to everyone else. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The filing is led by the South Carolina and West Virginia attorneys general. Both states sent troops to DC.

Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

There are a lot of ways to show up for and with communities facing challenges in this moment.

You shouldn’t - in fact you can’t - do everything, you just need to do something.

Take stock of your skills, networks, resources; engage them for good. Keep learning & showing up.

It matters.

Recently talked with a DC friend re: my hatred of car ownership and driving. She shared that her experience in a Waymo felt far safer than a traditional rideshare. Interesting to see data digging into this more.
There is a jobs component that cannot be ignored. But on a public health level, self driving cars with track record like Waymo’s (not Tesla’s) could save many many many lives. The data here is gobsmacking. 🎁 www.nytimes.com/2025/12/02/o...

Senator Mann is whip smart and a fierce advocate. This is massive loss to the wellbeing of the entire state.
She is announcing her retirement, a year from now. Until that time, I expect Senator Mann will continue her fierce, eloquent, unrelentingly fight for people. That is, after all, the Mann Plan.

Weird how voluntarily being Trump's bitch never works out like you hope it will.
The White House’s new anti-media website includes denunciations of:

-ABC, which bribed the president
-CBS, which bribed the president and moved away from fact-based journalism trying to appeal to him and his fans
-WaPo, which spiked a Harris endorsement and tilts coverage in Trump’s favor

Fools.

We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

Related to pt 2, anyone in a state or national Dem leadership position who still thinks ICE brutality isn’t a “kitchen table issue” is completely delusional.

It’s a topic at family dinner. It’s a topic at my aunt’s book club. It’s a topic at my uncle’s church group. They see it for what it is.

2 takeaways:

1) Thankful to have supportive family
2) A *lot* more people in small places are aware of & repulsed by ICE than we probably give them credit for
