Rent is due at 10 pm on the 1st . My landlord doesn’t accept late payment and I’ve been really pushing it again which ended in my landlord threatening that if it happens again we’ll be out. I’m disabled, one of my kids is disabled and my car does not currently have heat. We need to keep our home.

All the artsy types I follow keep talking about the importance of making art, even bad art. Turns out they were right this shit is fun to do, and I feel a bit better for having done it. Hadn't drawn anything other than hasty doodles on scrap paper in a decade or so before this.

I think a useful response to the political plans of well-funded fascists is not "how ridiculous, they could never achieve those laughably cruel aims" but instead "they mean what they say, they are going to kill a lot of people before they are stopped, how about we make sure they don't get to try".

I think the Matt Goodwin story is a sad one. It will likely happen to quite a few academics as they get made redundant and some resort to begging for clicks. They'll go down all sorts of grotesque rabbit holes.

Relatedly, it may look cute and cool to use the Unicode characters like "𝕽𝔬ℴ𝑘" which seem like they're just text in a different font or style — but these are intended for math uses: a screen reader will say them individually as "Mathematical Bold Fraktur Capital R" etc. which is intensely annoying!
Reminder to always include Alt text with your images. You can change your settings on both web and in app to not let you post an image without filling it in. It makes a big difference, not just to people with vision issues who may not understand what you are skeeting without it...
