I ended up on a SFFH writer’s list and so I say, welcome! To all who decided to drop by. You may not decide to stay, but I’ll tell you that polite unfollows are all part of social media. If BSky is your staying light place, no harm, no foul.

Just remember—we can mute words here. 1/

That sounds great. I've wanted something, but since fumes from propane and particulates are dangerous, I need o choose my emergency food heating carefully.

There's a new attack on public lands. It's a bill with the Orwellian name of "Border Lands Conservation Act." It would open up designated Wilderness Areas to "tactical infrastructure," such as border walls and fences, runways, roads, and surveillance towers.

A Trojan Horse for Wilderness: Boundary Waters Under Attack, Again

This is an official "do not read cute narrative if phobic because danger noodles eventually appear" warning.

Had to handle a teeny tiny garter noodle when relocating him, and they are SO thin, so cute, and garter noodles will poop on you to escape.

Dumb noodle. Hope he did fine, no roadrunners.

Big adventure in the yard today!

NATIVEPLANTGUY: *bent over to pull a weed* Yeah, I’ve been trying to catch these little weeds while they’re small—
ME: STOP
NPG: *freezes*
ME: Step back, slowly.
NPG: *steps back*
ME: Whew.
NPG: Rattlesnake, right? Where?
ME: *points*
NPG: …whoa.

Here's the email sent by the owner of Down & Out Books, announcing that the publisher is closing and that a "sharp decline in sales" means no further royalties will be paid (authors say that's been true for some time)
For 15 remarkable years, Down & Out Books proudly published nearly 1,000 titles, collaborated with over 500 talented authors, and earned more than 50 prestigious awards. Today, however, we must announce the closure of our operations.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the gifted authors who entrusted us with their stories and to our loyal readers who brought those stories to life through their passion and support.

Regrettably, a sharp decline in sales since 2020 has made continued financial investment unsustainable. As a result, no further payments will be issued. In the coming weeks, all titles will be withdrawn from distribution channels, and rights will revert to their respective authors and editors in accordance with their contracts.

Your unwavering dedication has been the heart of our journey, and we are profoundly grateful for every moment. Thank you for being part of the Down & Out family.
Sincerely,

---E

6/ Parents, please take note: seeing headlines like this can be stressful. Know that you are doing an amazing job. Asking questions, seeking evidence, and leading with care is exactly what good parents do. And no, there’s no causal link between Tylenol use and autism in babies or pregnant women.

I think he slurped at the end.

Someone suggested he's 60% pasta now, and maybe so!

there have always been people who like to write, and people who like to say they have written, and the latter really love the idea of AI and the former can not understand why you'd let a computer do the fun part.

there’s this weird idea a lot of people seem to have about how all of us writers and artists must secretly want to use AI and are merely resisting temptation for ethical reasons, and like, no, it’s not hard for me to resist drinking the bowl of Piss With Glass In It actually

It felt so unfriendly I stopped after one book.

It's not you!

Another boost on this one because we all need to have a virtual blanket fort to curl up in occasionally.

Today is writing, group story work, and prying info out of the car center. Take care, everyone.

This is one of those grants cancelled by the current administration that may be derailed and take years to be picked up again. The device is almost ready, and clearly has multiple future uses.

Doesn't make good sense to cancel. :(

Well, we have the suggestion that I read multiple sources. Those sources may not be emphasizing that except when males have people whispering about sexual harassment.

In future articles I'll be sure to look for it.

I don't think you've shared anything so far that I had to go quickly past. But a lot of people are kindly boosting artists doing horror work. And a lot of that gets into my own trauma. So, I just unfollowed for now. TMI art!

This is a me thing, I'm not asking anyone to change their posting.

Dental & vision are private insurance things, unless Medicare Adv. (Drawbacks to Adv.)

One smart thing someone did is get basic cataract surgery included in Medicare. Because a huge percentage of people will need it. Compared to assisted living it's a cheap investment in senior healthy living.

Because DUDE, YOU HAVE TO TEACH YOURSELF HOW TO COOK TO GET GOOD AT IT.

Honestly, tell us you think TikTOk is nothing but a dating app without saying the words. 🤨
catkimbriel.bsky.social
I had a caustic reaction to this for him, about why no one wants a second date, but we won't do that. Because I work at remembering I can & will lead with kindness.

Maybe the funny response would be "Tell me you never learned how to cook anything without telling me you don't know how to cook" ?

Since Politico was sold, I don't feel like I can trust it as an only source. I don't like to hear about this happening, even though I know stress can trigger things. But I notice that we hear this only about female Dems. And that rings like a hit squad. So. . . I'd like more sources?
