I ended up on a SFFH writer’s list and so I say, welcome! To all who decided to drop by. You may not decide to stay, but I’ll tell you that polite unfollows are all part of social media. If BSky is your staying light place, no harm, no foul.

Just remember—we can mute words here. 1/
Last weekend I realized I needed a couple of things, sighed, & paid full price plus shipping for clothes from my favorite place. Because with crazy commercial rents in the SF, CA region, Cotton Basics is struggling.

But they'll have Black Friday/Saturday this year! ⭐

I've been resisting a second one until I finish the medical, but oh, it is the perfect lap blanket to cuddle under. @e-bookpushers.bsky.social told me about them!

I made these extra simple labels for printing and sticking on things (that you have permission to stick labels on, of course) with the GI Rights Hotline number on them: bsky.app/profile/raha...
I've seen a bunch of people sharing leaflet and postcard-sized versions of the GI Rights Hotline info, but I haven't seen any templates designed for label printing, so 30 seconds with the Avery template maker made the simplest possible version with the absolute basics (to be seen from a distance).

The vaccine is good ~ five years, after that you should renew the TDP. Even the "T" portion fades in ten years, so DEFINITELY put this on your list. If you have insurance, odds are it will cover this, especially if you haven't had one in ages.

Please ask. All three things a TDP protects from. . . 🥺
There is NO FUCKING EXCUSE for this to be happening.

I had a baby die in my arms of pertussis some fifty years ago. It was a HORRIBLE death. But my fellow nurses said to me, "It's almost stamped out now, they're all getting the shots, we won't be seeing this again."

HOW THE FUCK ARE WE HERE. 😡
A third infant has died in Kentucky, KYDPH adds:

“These are Kentucky’s first pertussis deaths since 2018. None of the infants nor their mothers received the recommended pertussis vaccinations during pregnancy or early infancy.”

Hummmm. Pie.

It's changed over the years. I should add that I tend to make gf, usually with chopped & pre-hardened nut crusts.

6) Pecan (too sweet now)
5) Key Lime
4) Mince
3) Berry
2) Pumpkin (with cream)
1) Rhubarb & Strawberries (sweet/tart)

I also make killer pumpkin cheesecake.
It's wild, my list is almost exactly inverted.
Just FYI:

My most controversial tweet ever, from Thanksgiving three years ago, back when Twitter was Twitter and Bluesky didn’t exist.

_____________

Pies ranked.

1. Cherry (if not too sweet).
2. Mixed berry.
3. Peach/blackberry.
4. Peach.
5. Apple.

9. Key lime.

99. Pecan.

999. Pumpkin.

This whole thread, but this post in particular.

I guess today is my "fuck LLMs" day
And this is where, if it wasn't obvious, I point out that this is what LLMs do. They have no concept of truth, accuracy, or competence. They only track how likely certain parts of words fit together. They've consumed more than a thousand pieces of input, obviously, but it's all treated the same.

a disappointing dinner party
my work friend asked
if I knew the feeling
of being with people
(of being with good people)
but still just feeling
profoundly alone,
and as I adjusted my mask
I looked
at my friend’s bare face
and simply said:
I know the feeling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺
