Also, don't engage in rewriting. If something is unclear, that's all they need to know. It's their job to make it clearer.

PRO TIP from someone who has peer reviewed A LOT and submitted papers A LOT lately: your review shouldn’t be so long and nit picky that it’s basically a nightmare for the authors to address your comments.

Reviews should be feasible and constructive.

Die Leute, die 800 Euro pro Stunde verdienen, haben die Leute, die 80 Euro pro Stunde verdienen, davon überzeugt, dass die Leute, die 13 Euro pro Stunde verdienen, das Problem sind.

Faced with a similar choice I opted for travel planning today. 😂

Ok. That's fair. But a basic frame of what the issue is you wish to address and how is not a massive ask, I feel. ☺️

They've been around. I used to delete any obvious ones but can't keep up anymore. Seem largely dormant for now. Politics in here are no oxygen so not engaging bullshit. That seems to work reasonably well.

Isn't that the point of conferences? (To the extent of having something to say. I have seen presentations where the presenter seemed to have no real idea of what they were doing and why. And that's not a good picture.)

while we're here: people don't read papers in order, and they usually look at figures first, so try to have the figures tell the whole story.

Fig 1: schematic, what are we talking about, main Q
Fig 2: what did you actually do
Fig 3: what did you find, main results

Also ich hab da irgendwann mal so ein Gruppencoaching mit gemacht. Da ging es primär um die Gesundheit deiner Stimmbänder unter der Dauerbelastung durch Lehre. Das war schon sehr gut und nützlich.

I'm excited to announce this new paper we have in The Lancet Planetary Health.

We show that the world is not moving towards a just and ecological future for all.

When the engine of #prosperity does not pull every wagon, the carriage grows mutinous.
As @boehmwolf.bsky.social writes in @diepressecom.bsky.social, #Europe’s left-behind are not mute. There, economic drift becomes political rupture & the centre bleeds #votes to the margins

I had one that I'm aware of. They did cite us but basically just copied off entire paragraphs and passed it as theirs. So it's borderline as they cited but still annoying. And it happened to my first paper. 😂

Immediate priorities: 1. Prioritise foundational sectors & universal public services 2. Centre industrial policy on sufficiency & demand reduction 3. Bolster green planning via fiscal-monetary coordination, credit guidance, greater fiscal space & public ownership—especially in energy & finance

Prominent climate communicators continue to "joke" that what Trump is doing is "degrowth". It is not, and such claims are actively harmful. A quick🧵

"In April 2025, while most of the world was clutching pearls over trade war tit-for-tat tariffs, China calmly walked over to the supply chain and yanked out a handful of critical bolts. The bolts are made of dysprosium, terbium, tungsten, indium and yttrium..."
