Fun new-to-me Black History Month fact that I just learned while listening to public radio:

Langston Hughes, the famed poet and activist, was also a composer!

WQXR is doing a special tonight on his music

Once again, former President Obama uses clips from his time in the White House to recognize something the current administration won't.

I'd say the current administration should be ashamed of themselves but...
Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.

REQUEST FOR HELP-contact your representatives.

The construction of a border wall through a National Wildlife Refuge is not compatible. These protections need to be affirmed.

The DHS funding bill— with all its horrors— also allows for border wall construction across Santa Ana NWR (Texas).
@altfws.altgov.info

Can anyone here help?

There is a threat to the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge due to renewed efforts to construct the border wall through critical areas of the refuge. This process was abandoned previously due to environmental concerns, but is back on the table.

A wonderful and kind move by the pilots.

Now I need to check whether Delta is on the "good" list because, if so, I will take any flights going forward with them.
1. After a federal judge ordered the release of him and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias (who had an active asylum application), Liam Conejo Ramos headed home to Minnesota on a Delta flight, where the pilots offered him a VIP tour of the cockpit.

“Any situation like that knocks you off-balance. And it was a very unpleasant experience.”

A judge denied Minnesota's ambitious request — a day after Don Lemon and Georgia Fort were arrested. But, in Texas, a judge orders 5-year-old Liam Ramos and his dad released.
