Jelena Subotić is a political scientist. She is Professor of Political Science at Georgia State University in Atlanta. She is known for her research on memory politics, human rights, and transitional justice. She has expertise in the politics of the Western Balkans. A Titanic passenger’s gold-trimmed pocket watch stopped ticking at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, as the ship sank. On Saturday, the watch sold at an auction in England for $2.3 million, a record for a piece of Titanic memorabilia, according to the auction house that organized the sale.
