It's 85 seconds to midnight on the Doomsday Clock.

The folks at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists ended today's presentation with a call for a global people's revolution against the maniacs in charge.

Well not exactly, but close!

I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work.

I don’t let bullies win.

Grateful to my incredible constituents who rallied behind me. Minnesota strong.
After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.
I think what a lot of folks miss is how profitable deportation is for the corporations involved & the politicians they're backing.

Holding people, physically removing them, is cost for the taxpayer & profit into the pockets of the worst people you can imagine.

What time is it? 85 seconds to midnight.

The setting of the Doomsday Clock gets a lot of eyeballs, but the real juice is in the Clock Statement, where @meckdevil.bsky.social synthesizes the many intersecting global threats assessed by @thebulletin.org's Science & Security Board:

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

I ended the night as the guest of queer, observant Jews who have been organizing nonstop against ICE.

Observant Muslims fed us and everyone else at protests.

An indigenous organizer spoke to us of the creator.

Every church we saw had messages of inclusion and antifascism on their marquees.

Trump's "board of peace" seems mainly like a post-presidency grift for the trump family - yes a way to usurp the UN but also to keep monetizing the presidency out of office.

Not unlike the Clinton Global Initiative, I'm afraid. But with more private $$ to the family and less do-gooder veneer.

in fact "they" not only built but bought a giant pipeline to the Pacific

One of the most important parts of independent media is that you can ask politicians the kind of questions that fake news corporate slop won't!

that is so kind, thank you!
It’s hard to accurately describe what is happening in Minneapolis without sounding crazy.

Unmarked rental vans all over the city, with people in military gear and no id jumping out of them to take captive anyone who looks nonwhite or who makes political speech they disagree with.

maybe a misunderstanding - i was saying you can watch the debates but not vote if you aren't a member, even if you donated. I had donated but found out I wasn't a member, so if I hadn't joined last week I wouldn't have been able to vote. If that makes sense...'

He had lines down the block in Vancouver Sunday, hundreds out in Edmonton (!) yesterday, Calgary tomorrow.

It's within reach - but you gotta reach!

Obviously I'm biased but Avi's campaign is on fire.

Folks are realizing that we can have a national party that represents our values, weaves our movements together and - for starters - pushes Carney to do way better on climate, housing, healthcare, Palestine.

🧵Canadian friends: if you want to vote for the next leader of the NDP, you have *just one week left* to buy a (cheap) party membership.

After that, there will be a big English debate and lots of media coverage, but it will be too late to have a say.

Only members can vote for leader.

I published This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate in 2014. Lots of serious people explained that we didn't have time to tackle capitalism, climate was too important. Let the market fix it for us.

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

Despite being a U.S. citizen, Mubashir was targeted by ICE, assaulted, and detained. Listen to his story:
